OK, I know that "Save The Best For Last" is Vanessa Williams & I believe that "Masterpiece" is Atlantic Starr, but who did "The Real Thing"?

Kenny Loggins.
If memory serves this was a semi-autobiographical song by him to his kids about his divorce.

I don't know who did "The Real Thing"---Casey simply read the names of the songs that fell off without giving the names of the artists. I don't have access to the RR AC charts at that time (other than the Casey's Countdown shows that I have).

What amazes me is when you listen to an old AT40 from the 80s, many weeks you'll hear a show full of songs that are still familiar and get lots of airplay on radio today. If a 90's/Variety Hits station played an old Casey show from the 90s, be it CC or CT40, I feel like there are a lot of songs that didn't stand the test of time like the 80s shows.

That has a lot to do with the fact that Mainstream Top 40 radio (and mainstream pop music, for that matter) went through its most prolonged doldrums during the 90's. Most of the music most readily associated with the decade (bar its later part) was on the Alternative, Urban and Rhythmic sides; Mainstream Top 40 ignored a lot of it then.
