I umpire little league and he sang the national anthem in Penfield, NY (Suburb of Rochester, NY) for their opening day festivities. His son plays little league in Penfield as thats where he lives currently.
I thanked him for the great music over the years, made the snide comment about Olivia Newton John and her keeping them from the top and mentioned how the new singer for Foreigner doesn't deserve to lick his boots... He agreed and said "he's ok with not being with the band though because of the egos he had to put up with for so long, and he's having more fun now on his own.
Just thought I'd share that with you all...

I believe the reason Lou Gramm left Foreigner was because he & Mick Jones were constantly arguing.

Yep, he was arguing with him, mainly because of the egos, so he left.

Yep, he was arguing with him, mainly because of the egos, so he left. Reminds me of the story before the #1 song on the SXM show this week....Hotel California. Casey said that the Eagles are (at the time) the Oakland A's of rock and roll. When they are on the field, they cannot be beat but when they are in the clubhouse, it is a different story. They feuded constantly but that is what kept the juices flowing and the kept them sharp musically. In another story on a different AT40, Casey had said that Don Henley said this is typical of every band and that is why almost every successful group breaks up eventually. Don said the exception was the Stones because the other guys in the band defer to Mick Jagger and Keith RIchards and don't mind having them call all the shots.

There's also another thing: Lou Gramm became a born-again Christian during the early 90's. That might have also contributed to his and Mick Jones falling apart for good in the meantime. And quite frankly, I don't agree with the OP's assessment that Kelly Hansen isn't a fit for Foreigner. I think he brought a renewed energy to the band, really. And while Can't Slow Down might not have set the world on fire (but then so hasn't Mr. Moonlight), it can be considered a success, given that we're talking about a band that pretty much became a heritage act.

I work at the amphitheatre and have done shows with Foreigner and Journey with their new lead singers. I think the new man for Journey...have no idea what his name is....was a very close clone to Steve Perry.

Arnel Pineda is the man you're looking for. He's a Filipino who Neal Schon discovered, believe it or not, through YouTube, when he came across some videos of him singing in a Journey cover band. Yes, his voice is a dead ringer for Steve Perry. And I don't know if you were aware of this, but his debut album with the band, 2008's Revelation is their first platinum album in the USA since, precisely, their last one with Steve Perry, Trial By Fire, which came out almost 15 years ago. I guess the Wal-Mart deal had a lot to do with it, but still not bad for a band that seemed pretty much confined to the dustbin as far as their recording career was concerned - on tour, they still rake the dough! Oh, and there's a new album coming out next Tuesday. It's called Eclipse, and according to those in the know, it's their heaviest yet and it sounds a million bucks! Once again, there's a Wal-Mart deal involving this one. Yup, the whole hoopla around Glee's take on "Don't Stop Believin'" seems to be reenergizing them!
