"20 on 20" is being moved to channel 3 as of May 4th, and the description has people on the xm message board talking. It says "countdowns for every listener." It's led to some speculation that the countdown shows Sirius XM carries will move to this channel. Any thoughts? www.siriusxm.com/pdf/11-1524_XM_WebLUs_5_4.pdf

That is a good guess and it is not a bad thing. It could mean countdowns 24/7 which has all kinds of possibilities i.e. every possible AT40 for a given week for all of the 70s, 80s and 90s except those guest hosted. It could include more SXM DJs doing countdowns which may not be a good thing for some people. But it could also be a way to induce more subscribers. You may not sign up for SXM with just 1 AT40 every week but you might if there were several aired every week. We will see in a week or so.

As of now, there are the following pop-oriented countdowns:
Lou Simon's 60s Satellite Survey Casey Kasem's 70s AT40 the 80s Big 40 Countdown the Pop 2Kountdown (an in house show on Pop 2K, where they count down the top 30 from this week in a year from 2000-09. I heard it this past weekend and there wasn't an actual DJ counting them down; nor was it clear what sort of chart was used) Various shows on 20 on 20 or Sirius Hits 2, including the daily top 20s and a weekend countdown, heavily influenced by listener input AT40 with Ryan Seacrest, on KISS XM (21), which they sometimes skip when they don't get the files in time; when they do play it it's three back-to-back plays each Sunday.
An all-countdowns channel would be a great idea, if they could fill in missing decades; maybe more than one for some periods (such as AT40 or a nationally syndicated show paired with an in-house survey if needed.) The new channel listing does look somewhat more organized than now; currently the country stations are in the middle of the pop ones.

I doubt the current AT40 will be apart of any "countdown" channel. It airs on a cc programmed station on sat rad now and that's how it will probably stay.
