I have generally stuck with 64-69. Eventually I will do a few between 60-63, but no, I wont be going back to the 50's. Sorry!

OK, here it is: 5-3-69. There's some amazing chart movement, some crazy high debuts, even the songs that dropped fell from high up off the hot 100. Great extras and it is edited a bit to fit into the 2 hr 40 min time limit. www.megaupload.com/?d=9BU6S9PVENJOY! bestmusicexpert, I hope to listen to this some time soon. (It appears I need to commit to download time first.) The years of 1968 and 1969 were awesome for Top 40 radio. I checked out Billboard magazine for the week of May 3, 1969 this morning and discovered an article in that issue about ABC-TV's Music Scene program. It was this TV show, of all things, that introduced me to Billboard which, eventually, led me to discover AT40.

I am giving that some thought. I do have them all...
Now, I did want to let people know, starting with next weeks show, you will see some of the "pulling away from AT40". I want to make this show continue to be great, but want to diminish the leaning on American Top 40. Therefore one change next week will be the elimination of the AT40 end of hour music. I have my own to use now. I don't know how long it will take, but when I find good "fanfare" music, the opening and closing theme will change as well (While keeping Telstar)
Though I should send Premiere a copy and see if they'd like to syndicate me as is! I'm kind of surprised they hadn't thought of that yet!
And Pete, as you are one of the ultimate experts, I'd LOVE to have your thoughts on my show!

Its Monday and time for another 60's countdown show. One thing I wanted to notate... I am trying to change things and get rid of the reliance on AT40. The content will stay the same just losing the themes and want to cvhange the name but don't know what to. If anyone has any suggestions for my consideration, I'd love them! 5-18-68 www.megaupload.com/?d=2H3FWEQDCue Sheet www.megaupload.com/?d=HWHV3GQCEnjoy! Next week will have a tribute to Tom King of The Outsiders!

Next week will have a tribute to Tom King of The Outsiders! What about National Top 40, the name that was almost used for American Top 40 or America's Top 40? I am surprised Casey did not use one of those names instead of Casey's Top 40. Maybe none of the those could be used because AT40 had bought the rights to those names.

Did they? I am trying to figure out things that either can be abbreviated or is easy to say without slipping up too much. Here are two of my other shows that I also broadcast... Metal Mountain: (Hard Rock show, usually mixed music but this is a tribute to Ronnie James Dio) www.megaupload.com/?d=0I4O90RVRoyal Treatment Show (Queen) www.megaupload.com/?d=7L0RGK2VI want to thank everyone who downloads the shows. I just looked and the episode for 3-6-65 (The debut one) Has had OVER 100 downloads now! Others that are close 4-4-64 (89) and 4-15-67 (86)

100 people downloaded it? That's like 3 or 4 times the number of people who post on this forum. Not sure what that means.
Am thinking Shannon or Pete can shed light on the naming rights question. In sports, there are several examples of an American and a National entity. But National Top 40 may have been taken out of consideration decades ago.

How many 60s experts do we have here...pizzzza, anyone else? Anyway, was wondering what happened to Spanky & the Gang's Like to get to Know You. On the 60s sountdown, it debuted all the way up at 20. And I have heard that song several times over they years so thought it was a big hit. But it only made it to 17. What happened? Sounds like it was pulled from the shelves or from stations to stall like that. But it's treated like it actually did make the top 10 by radio since then.

The episode that goes up/airs the week of June 6th, will have the new name. the new name is so secret, I don't even know it yet! ;-P I have yet to record the show (Will do that next week) so I have some time!
Anyhow. Spanky... I don't know. Its a mystery how things debut that high and then fizzle just as fast.
As for the total downloads. I post the link one or two other places. I think some people share it with other friends (which is amazing to me and perfectly fine by me!)

I believe it was explained in Rob's book that "National Top 40" was once considered as the original program name. However, it was changed to "American Top 40" because of confusion if "NT40" ever aired in a foreign country. And bestmusicexpert, I hope to finally spend some time to listen this weekend when we have an extra day for memories and memorials.

bestmusicexpert, I finally get a chance to enjoy one of your AT40 shows and I see that there won't be any more. However, it appears you've got quite a bit of radio programs forthcoming so I look forward to them. (btw, I enjoyed the May 1969 production.) I liked the idea of producing pre-Casey Kasem AT40 shows. I've occasionally wondered if someone could (or world) package an AT40 program using the Top 40 from the July 4, 1970 Hot 100. The "trick" to truly make it unique would be for the program host to state it's his last AT40 (after how many years?), peppering the show with "next week, a jock by the name of Casey Kasem will be handling the AT40 countdown." Or something similar, in a 1970ish style. I guess you truly have to be a fan to appreciate that idea.

LOL Pete. I did think about doing something similar. I wish Premiere would hire me to really produce this show and then it'd be even better!
Don't fret Pete, There won't be any more AT40: The 60's, but its now The Music Expert Retro Countdown: 60's Edition. I recorded the first one today and it sounded AMAZING! It'll be up next week on Monday. The same show, just removing the reliance on themes and such from AT40. Though if Premiere wants to hire me to do AT40: the 60's, I'll be MORE than happy to recreate it again! Plus the previous episodes can be downloaded here if you like, they're still all up on my site.
