SIMONA DE SILVESTRO, ROBERT T. DURKEE, ENGAGED; WEDDING DUE NEXT JUNE
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Indy Racing League proudly announces the engagement of up-and-coming IRL auto racer Simona De Silvestro, to Robert T. Durkee of North Hollywood, California. The couple have been secretly dating for the past year and a half. A wedding is planned for next June.
Miss De Silvestro finished a career-best fourth place at the IRL season opener, the Honda Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, last weekend. Mr. Durkee is the author of the book, "American Top 40: The Countdown Of The Century" and has been a musicologist/music researcher for the highly-acclaimed radio research company, Mediabase 24/7, since late 1994.
Despite the slight difference in ages, Miss De Silvestro and Mr. Durkee share many mutual interests. Miss De Silvestro, for instance, has frequently pointed out that her all-time favorite song is "My Name Is Larry" by Wild Man Fischer. Additionally, her favorite all-time singers are Elvis Presley and Gary (U.S.) Bonds and her favorite professional sports teams are the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers.
"Mr. Durkee is the man of my dreams," said Miss De Silvestro. "He has a highly unique and interesting background."
