From RadioInfo:
Citadel Media Networks' "American Country Countdown," has made some programming adjustments, beginning with this past weekend's show. The Kix Brooks-hosted program has dropped from 40 to 30 positions for its countdown, a move Citadel VP programming and distribution Bryan Switzer says came at the request of many of the show's affiliates, who were uncomfortable with the level of unfamiliarity the songs in the 30s had on their stations. The show remains four hours long, and the slots formerly occupied by song Nos. 31-40 are now being filled by past or recent hits of artists relevant to that week's countdown, Switzer says. Record labels were notified of the adjustment in advance, since some of their releases lost spins in the change. The show airs on more than 350 affiliates. The show's Web site will continue to list songs 31-40, and there will be additional new features added to the site in the coming weeks.

I could see this happening with other shows as well. But I must say I find it humorous that affiliates are uncomfortable with familiarity level when it's THEM who are responsible for it!

This is basically the same reasoning that led to "American Top 20"/AC becoming "American Top 10" in 2004.

A question,Does ACC with Kix Brooks and CT40 with Bob Kingsley use the same chart data or does ACC still use Billboard?

Thank you for answering my question,I thought that was the case but wasn't sure. I prefer Bob Kingsley when I get the chance to listen.

Caseyfan,
I think most everyone who actually cares about countdown shows and likes country music completely agrees with you.
