I would like to know what stations aired American Top 40 in my hometown of Tacoma, Washington and also I would like to know what stations aired AT 40 in Seattle and Everett Washington as well. I am a new member of these forums and have had XM since January of this year and ever since I started listening to the AT40 replays I start to really look forward to the shows as much as all of you looked forward to the shows when they were first on. Thank You and hopefully someone can help me with this

Nickle...going by Battistini's book, Seattle is listed as KJR aired AT 40. I don't see Tacoma or Everett listed. Maybe Pete Battistini can chime in and be of more assistance...

Does this book list when these stations started/stopped carrying the shows in the 70's?

Seattle, Tacoma, and Everett are all one market now and probably were even in the '70s. Even if they were separate, I'd imagine that KJR was a pretty strong station that could cover all 3 cities.

Paul...the book list station mentions, and have when the station was new to carrying AT 40. It does not have an end date. In the case of KJR, it has station mentions listed from 11-28-1970 to 12-15-1979, which the book only lists info up through the first January, 1980 program.

Kentd is correct on stations through 1979. Beyond that, for a quick reference, I only have the AT40 Listener Directories from the early 80s. I checked the directories issued for 1980, 1981-82, and 1983-84 and all of them list Seattle's KJR. But no mention is made of Everett or Tacoma. It's possible that when KJR stopped carrying AT40 (whenever that was) another station licensed to Everett or Tacoma picked up the show. Note to Paul -- as best as I could, I documented the start date of all AT40 stations during the 70s thanks, in part, to Casey's new station welcomes. Unfortunately, it's virtually impossible to know the last AT40 broadcast for hundreds of stations, regardless of market size. The small number of devoted fans like you and I know this information first-hand of stations we've listened to over the years. I certainly can be wrong, but I don't think Casey ever said goodbye to a station during an AT40 program. And if anyone knows if that happened, please share!

ok, thats cool. I just remember when the book came out I know people had mentioned their was a station listing for it. I was only curious if it had the end dates for each if it occurred in the 70's as well.
