AT40 with Casey Kasem & Shadoe Stevens : The bilingual editions. Some spanish radio stations, from Spain and Latin America, took the show in the 80´s. But they had local presenters , so a mix of spanish speaking content and the original parts from Casey and Shadoe were used. Defenitely for ruining the shows and the original spirit and flavour. On april 20th 1985 American Top 40 started on Cadena 40 Network Spain. www.elpais.com/articulo/Pantallas/ESPANA/CADENA_SER/American/Top/elpepirtv/19850420elpepirtv_3/TesIt was DJ José Antonio Abellán who translated what Casey said and later will be DJ Fernandisco who did the same with Shadoe. The show was on aired on Saturdays 16.00 to 20.00 CET and it was a week later than the version aired in The USA. In 1985 the show , with the local spanish inserts, was recorded on reel to reel tapes and sent from Madrid to the provincial FM stations ( more than 52) that had to broadcast it between 4 to 8 pm. Finally the show was aired via satellite and the costs of the making were less, because the FM stations picked the satellite feed from Madrid and the quality of sound was much more evident. But they still kept on ruining the show with those translation of what the original host said. In Latin America some stations used complete dubbing of the show and they only respect the song lists. Other radio stations aired the original shows.

I want to add the following: Other spanish radio stations (from Spain) took american syndicated shows, besides AT40: 1.- Onda 10 Radio took Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 in the 90´s. 2.- Radio Nacional de España Radio 3 took Bob Kingsley American Country Countdown in the 90´s , too. 3.- After the last show of AT40 with Shadoe, Cadena 40 kept on taking The World Chart Show, a Top 40 with Ace & Joe. It used to have the same mailing address of AT40, that P.O. Box 2000, Hollywood CA, 90028, USA. 4.- Cadena 100 took Shadoe Stevens´s Top of the World in the 00´s. But it was AT40 the most popular american syndicated radio show. But it seems few people remember it in my country. Currently, no European radio station ( except one) take the most important american radio chart shows. Which is really a pity. There is a snob european idea in european broadcasters of what is from America is not interesting and european does it better in radio and broadcasting. Then you can see european listeners and people trying to hear what is sounding beyond the ocean by streaming radio and finding radio content here so dull and boring.

The telegram says:
Put yourself Forty every Saturday:
The Top 40 of America is going to sound strong in SER ( radio station) . At the same time that in America. Four hours of Top Music. ( Stop).
And in its original version, with the voice of Casey Kasem and the comments of José Antonio Abellán.
For your information: Saturdays 4 to 8 pm, hear it.
Listen to it frequently on FM.
