August 6, 1988: #1 on the Album chart: Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses #1 on the Country chart: "Baby Blue" by George Strait #1 on the Dance chart: "K.I.S.S.I.N.G." by Siedah Garrett #1 on the Black Singles chart: "Off On Your Own Girl" by Al B. Sure! Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses in its first week at #1 replaces Hysteria by Def Leppard. It was the second straight week that the #1 album was in its 50th week on the chart. Appetite For Destruction took 1 week longer to make it to the top than Hysteria, which made it to #1 two weeks earlier in its 49th week on the chart. |
