Well...unlike in 1985, Casey didn't read #1s for 1983 from Billboard's other charts. But, he did give two of them during the course of the show:
#1 Soul Song of the Year: "Sexual Healing" (by Marvin Gaye) #1 Album of the Year: Thriller (by Michael Jackson)

Well...unlike in 1985, Casey didn't read #1s for 1983 from Billboard's other charts. But, he did give two of them during the course of the show: #1 Soul Song of the Year: "Sexual Healing" (by Marvin Gaye) #1 Album of the Year: Thriller (by Michael Jackson) . Islands in the Stream by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton was the #1 country song of the year 1983.

^ I missed that the first time through...that's according to the American Country Countdown though. I checked for Billboard's top Country song, and theirs is "Jose Cuervo" by Shelly West.

Im not sure where you got that info Mike. According to my Billboard Country book here at KCountry (Station I've been doing a classic country show at) Islands was #1 for 1983. Jose Cuervo isn't even close, coming in at #28 for the year.
