Hi Pete - I know that WCFL aired AT 40 back in the early 70s - but did WLS ever air it before now? (I don't think they did)

A hearty welcome to WLS-FM and all listeners in Chicagoland.
Pizzzza; WLS-AM had AT40 in the 80s. Their DJ Chuck Britton subbed for Casey the week "We Are The World" hit #1.
But what I logged on to write about; that quirkey station in Dover, Ohio, WJER. I tuned in their stream Thursday evening just to sample their programming and what do I hear but Casey Kasem talking up "Heart Of Gold"! This was just before 10:00 EDT so I'm assuming a 7:00 start to the airing. The promo on their website does not mention any Thursday re-broadcast; only Saturdays with no time specified (and I wrote earlier that I heard two airings the same day). This could be a make-up for a pre-empted show. But if it does turn out that they do a regular Thursday night replay...cool!

There are so many stations that come and go, and there are several question marks of stations that "might" play AT 40 - any help is appreciated! Thanks for the info!

40 years and counting and you are still chasing after AT40 in Chicago, Pete.........lol That's right! The drought has ended...yet again! Perhaps a 1972 program will be repeated some time this year on WLS-FM, one that was originally heard on WCFL, as pizzza mentioned. And 40fan is correct. WLS-AM began airing AT40 in 1982 not long after ABC (which owned WLS at the time) purchased Watermark Inc. And here's a Chicago newspaper write-up which hopefully will help build the audience. feder.blogs.chicago.timeout.com/2011/04/06/blast-from-the-past-caseys-top-40-countdown-back-on-wls-fm/#more-1906CORRECTION -- The writer of this blog *used* to feature media stories for the Chicago Sun-Times. Apparently he now writes an independent blog and is no longer affiliated with the newspaper.

Just an FYI, in their second week airing AT40 The 70s, WOCL/Orlando has already changed time slots. Last week the show aired 6am-9am. This week it aired from about 6:45am-9:45am. So, it either started 45 minutes late, or, they bumped it to 7am and it started 15 minutes early. I guess we'll see when it airs next week!

According to yes.com the show has been on the past three weeks, and each week it was on at a different time (7:00, 6:00, 6:45). That's why I've been hesitant about providing info. It does appear that another station has dropped AT40. KTHI has not broadcast the show for the past three weeks. The website still shows it's on, but yes.com (and their online listing of songs being played) prove otherwise.

Just came across another station playing AT 40-70s that is not on the list. WVTK 92.1 "Addison County's Radio Station" - Port Henry, NY Saturday 9P-12A Their website confirms this and also has a listen live option. www.921wvtk.com/

WLIF was supposed to run AT40 starting at 8am but started a talk show instead.
