I'm looking for some information about AT40 theme music. But, with so many threads on this board, I wonder if the information I'm looking for has already been posted. Is there a way to search a topic or thread here?
What I'm looking for.........there have been a few AT40 shows (LP copies) where a separate track was provided that offered an unedited, no-voiceover copy of the theme music that was used at the time. The 10-13-73 program had it, as did the shows dated 7-5-86 and 10-3-87. But I'd like to know if any LP copy had a separate track containing the "Shuckatoom" theme. I can't remember if this was ever offered to stations -- perhaps someone knows for sure.

I do know that the first few shows that "Shuckatoom" appeared on, it was relegated to the very end of the show (after Casey's signoff over the Moog theme), if you're just looking for a clean un-talked-over copy. But then I'm guessing you already knew about that. As far as a separately tracked "Shuckatoom", I haven't run across one yet.

I've been an avid AT40 fan since I heard my first full-length broadcast on June 15, 1980. I believe the #1 song that week was "Funky Town" by Lipps Inc. I also recall that by this time, the "Shuckatoom" theme was used only as the opening music and they had a different theme for the on-the-hour and closing sequences. What I'd like to know is, on what exact date did AT40 switch to the new on-the-hour and closing music, just out of curiosity? I've been listening to the XM rebroadcasts of the old AT40 shows, and I enjoy them very much

I know there was a show in 1984 that contained the close theme "in the clear" on the discs. There was also a show in 1988 that contained the hour close theme "in the clear" on the discs.

I am not really sure, but I think there is a show (could be early one) with Shadoe, with the whole theme as one of a bonus track(s) on last disc.
Could be an european version, not that sure...

I've been listening to the XM rebroadcasts of the old AT40 shows, and I enjoy them very much That musical piece (which opened with the "Casey's Coast To Coast" horn fanfare) debuted on the 9-22-79 show... and it seems that it may have been originally intended to completely replace "Shuckatoom", since it was also used as the theme music to open the show for four straight weeks, before "Shuckatoom" returned as the opening theme on 10-20-79. (Thanks to Pete Battistini's wonderful book American Top 40 with Casey Kasem (The 1970's) for documenting those dates.) ETA: The end-of-hour music (notable for its strings) debuted on the first four-hour show (10-7-78), in case you were asking about that too.

This reminds me of the 7/4/92 show. That was the first Shadoe show to use the new jingles (what I refer to as the "Hit Me!" era) and one of the discs of the US version (I think disc 3) featured the show open as well as at least one of the three different hour opens "in the clear."
