Gang:
By my calculations, here's what months that have yet to be represented in the two current "AT40" packages distributed by Premiere Radio Networks. That is, no countdowns from these particular months have aired in the 3 1/2 yearrs of reairings of AT40 from 1970-1988:
"Casey Kasem's AT40: The 70s"
• 1970: August, October and December. This includes no shows being aired from Sept. 19-Oct. 31.
• 1971: All 12 months represented as of 2008.
• 1972: July and August. (Discounting the July 1 special, we've yet to hear any countdowns from the July 8-Aug. 26 timeframe; and remember in 2009 we heard no regular countdown from May 6-Dec. 9, a period of seven months.)
• 1973: May and July.
• 1974: August, November and December. (No shows have aired from Oct. 26-Dec. 14; this does not include the 1974 year-end countdown.)
• 1975: October. (None of the first shows featuring "Shucaktoom," strictly as the closing theme from Oct. 11-Nov. 1, have aired; the Oct. 4 show is discounted due to it being a special, and it appears unlikely we'll hear the Oct. 11 show due to it being guest-hosted by Wink Martindale.)
• 1976: All 12 months represented as of 2009.
• 1977: January and July. (No shows from Jan. 8-Feb. 19 have yet aired; the year-end 1976 countdown, which aired the weekend of Jan. 1, is discounted. Also, although a July show has technically aired (with the July 2, 1977, "Girls of Rock & Roll" special), no regular countdown from that month has aired.
• 1978: June, November and December. (The last two months are included, due to Premiere choosing to air an October 1978 show in the past; the year-end 1978 countdown, which aired in 2007, is not counted in this tabulation.)
As for 1979, the only year not included, the only countdown we've heard was the 1979 disco special, aired July 7, 1979. Otherwise, none of the specials or year-end countdowns are considered if they originally aired in a July or October.
"Casey Kasem's AT40: The 80s"
• 1980: April and October.
• 1981: June and September.
• 1982: August.
• 1983: May and August.
• 1984: July.
• 1985: All 12 months represented as of 2009, the only year so far in the 1980s package.
• 1986: August.
• 1987: May.
• 1988: February. (Discounting the unfortunate fact that no show after Aug. 6, 1988, will ever air per current practices with "AT40: The 80s.")
Like with the 1970s shows, none of the specials or year-end countdowns are considered. However, there appears to be fewer wide gaps between dates in the 1980s package, as there is no back-to-back month skipped over.
Does this list jive with everyone elses? Corrections are welcomed, and perhaps someone more knowledgeable with the 1980s package can fill in long gaps between shows.
