It was 1 year ago this morning, June 5th, when I woke up and just happened to head onto the computer for a couple minutes while I was getting ready for work. It was then I stumbled upon the news that Premiere had made the decision to cease production of AT20 and AT10. I remember reading it two or three times and being devastated by the news. I believe it had actually broken late in the day on the 4th, but I didn't find out until the morning of the 5th.
Here we are a year later. I still miss listening to AT20 every weekend, but at the same time I am able appreciate and understand the reasons in which the shows ended. It would have been awesome to have Casey complete 40 years, but it is what it is. I hope Casey's first year of retirement has been enjoyable for him, and I know I probably speak for many when I say that I still listen to Casey shows as much as I always did, but I don't have the grasp on the new Hot AC music that I once did. Rick and Ryan just aren't the same. I'll take AT40 the 80s any day!

It's sort of entertaining, but let me tell ya about Rick Dees. Ironically I prefer Rick Dees Hot AC over his CHR ones. I think that Rick Dees Hot AC has much more new material, which is kind of a "no brainer" and the usually sticks with the subject of the artists. I'm not speaking in terms of Rick Dees CHR not having "update" hits because it certainly does, I'm referring much more to my personal preference which is leaning towards Hot AC at this point. The charts may not match the current weeks but it a heck of lot closer than AT40, I'm talking about the Hot AC version in particular.

Agreed. When I want to listen to Hot AC, I'll try and check out Dees. The Dees HAC show is much better than it was 5 or 10 years ago, that's for sure. I honestly can say I haven't heard the CHR version of AT40 or WT40 in months now, I've completely lost touch with CHR in the last few years. While Dees works for Hot AC, I can't help but think his CHR appeal may be fading.
But I'll definitely try and catch bits and pieces of the Hot AC versions of both shows, and while both definitely fit the format, nothing is the same as Casey.

Honestly, I never liked the Hot AC format. Only reason for listening to AT20 was Casey. Nowadays, I tolerate Dees for his CHR countdown. Never bothered to even listen to his Hot AC show as it probably has the same gags/tidbits each week since Kevin Dees' Teen Top 20 uses them as well.
I just hope that Casey will do some sort of guest hosting or even host some one-time special in the future.

I highly doubt we will hear from Casey again on the airwaves. If anything, it'll be things like his cameo in the Sprint commercial from a few months ago.
I just hope Ryan gives a nice retrospective on AT40's 40th anniversary show next month. I remember on the 35th anniversary show in 2005, he played a clip of the first AT40 show. I hope he does something like that again.
