Another interesting feature of the new AT40 site is an archive of charts (both the CHR and Hot AC versions.) So far it has most of the AT40 charts back to August 2001, thus including Casey's last couple of years.
(Note: for 2004 to present the charts are apparently those officially published by Radio and Records or by Mediabase in USA Today, and are not always the same as what listeners heard Ryan count down.)

You can view a listing of stations carrying AT40 on the revamped AT40 site: www.at40.com/. Coming back to the original poster, there's a nice slide show of AT40's 40th anniversary on the AT40 site, which includes not only Ryan and the cake, but also a number of photos of Casey and even Shadoe Stevens. !@#%^@#$@! They acknowledged Shadoe's existence!

Thank goodness I was wearing Depends when I read that! I modified the post so it isn't so clear what I was saying! :-) I was just in such shock!

I normally don't listen to the current incarnation of "AT40",but I'll definitely tune in this weekend.

I heard a grand total of about five minutes of the show today on my way to work on WFLZ. Ryan played the first LDD in full and then talked about that feature of the show. If the entire show was filled with great old clips like this, I just may have to listen to it in its entirety when it airs on WXXL tomorrow morning.

Recorded the whole show while I was sleeping and just played it back. Overall, they played a few short Casey sound bytes as well as some AT40 trivia that most of us here already know about. I thought they could have done more but Ryan did give a lot of credit to Casey.
One interesting thing I noticed was when Ryan played back the very first introduction, the line "hot off the charts of Billboard magazine for the week ending July 11th, 1970" was omitted. Perhaps they did not want to associate with the old chart methodology.

where exactly is the link for the pics? I saw the videos...but nothing else....
I'm in the process of getting a copy of the show mp3's and cues.
Listening off air is a last resort for me. The quality of overprocessed FM grinds on my brain and I was in the industry for 16 years. You tend to like the perks that something like that gives you.

Listening online now, and midway through Hour 4 during one of the classic clip montages they actually play a short clip of Dick Clark's guest appearance. Very cool!!

One interesting thing I noticed was when Ryan played back the very first introduction, the line "hot off the charts of Billboard magazine for the week ending July 11th, 1970" was omitted. Perhaps they did not want to associate with the old chart methodology. Yes; Ryan at one point referred to MC Hammer's 1990 hit "U Can't Touch This" as a #1, which it was not on the Billboard Hot 100 then still used by AT40 (it only hit #8 there due to a limited singles release), but it did top the Radio & Records chart, and thus Casey's Top 40. Similarly, Mariah Carey's streak of 10 #1's in a row, noted by Seacrest, was according to R&R, but not Billboard. It seemed to me that AT40 and CT40 were essentially conflated into one here, as Ryan said that AT40 has been on air continuously for 40 years, which technically isn't true (due to AT40 being off for several years in the 90s), but pretty much is right if you combine Casey and AT40, which is probably how most think of it now since Casey is the person most readily associated with AT40, and CT40 effectively functioned as AT40 for many.

When Ryan was answering the listener question about the #1 songs on the listener's birthday & Ryan's birthday, he got the listener's birthday song correct ("Alone" by Heart). However, Ryan got his birthday song wrong. It was actually "Angie Baby" by Helen Reddy that was #1 on his birthday. Then again, they might have used another chart other than Billboard.
BTW, I got the Hot AC version of the 40th anniversary show. Does anyone have the CHR (Top 40) version of the show?
