Does anybody know when the peak of AT40's ratings were? I would think it's before 1983 since Rick Dees provided the only competition.
Also, does anybody know who Casey liked and disliked as musicians/songs? I know U2 was one that he disliked. LOL.

Not sure what the precise numerical ratings were, but for the Casey era it was probably in the early 1980s when its station count peaked at about 520. This was before competition from Dees and eventually Casey's Top 40, and before a 1990s decline in the number of top 40/CHR stations.
Post-Casey, AT40 has also been heard in excess of 500 stations since 2007 (according to Premiere), a fact noted in the current show's new opening sequence.

Its peak had to have come later than that...when Shadoe took over, AT40 was on 1,014 stations (as per Wiki), so either before, after, or right at that point.

This was before competition from Dees and eventually Casey's Top 40... Let's not forget about other countdown shows, like "Countdown America" with John Leader (and in 1986, his other show "Countdown USA"), along with a few other countdown shows that surfaced in the early-80s.

Isn't the 520 number just domestic stations? The 1000+ was domestic and international.
