For Dees2K - Is 2000 in the lead for the most episodes for a certain year played on the Rick Dees Retro app? No. If anything, 2000 would be playing catch-up (though it's crazy to do that now and in this way, if anything) - 2000 was featured very rarely in the first few years of Dees 2K (prior to 2020). As to why that was? No idea. 2001 would be my bet as to which year has the most so far, but I will have to count through each and come back with the definitive answer. (NOTE: This will be for as far as which year has had the most individual episodes done, repeats won't count for this total - although, all three of these 2000 episodes done in the past month have been first-time airings. Also note that 8/5/2000 was SUPPOSED to be 8/10/2002 and was captioned as such two weeks ago, but they put the wrong episode in there and never fixed it.) |

So, 2001 and 2002 are in fact tied for the most done so far - 2001 has had 31 regular countdowns plus their Christmas special, while 2002 has had 29 regular countdowns, both halves of their Year-End countdown (two episodes), AND their Christmas special. That puts each at 32. 2003 is close behind, with last week's 8/2 being the 30th for that year. Overall, 2001 has a one-point edge due to having one other episode (1/20) that has only ever aired on KKMK so far; 2002 has no such "exclusive" episodes. 2003 actually moves into a tie for second with KKMK factored in, as they have two "exclusives" (2/22 and 10/25). After 2004, it (perhaps not surprisingly) drops off significantly, unless you're 2008. 2000, 2004, and 2008 each have had 27 regular countdowns done, with 2008 also having had its full Year-End done. For 2004, however, it should be noted that that year has the most "KKMK only" episodes of any year: Four of them! (4/3, 4/24, 9/18, 12/11) That puts 04 right behind 02 and 03 overall. If anything, it's 2005 and 2007 that are most due to "catch up" - as well as 2009, if they ever decide to rotate that year back in, ideally with Pop countdowns and not Hot AC ones. (Nothing against that format, but it doesn't seem right to me to restrict 2009 to Hot AC while the rest of the decade gets Pop.) But for 2005, we don't really need a show from them for at least another month, as we're at a point of the calendar that has been covered extensively for them. 2007, however, is ripe for picking. Actually, 2008 is overdue to be featured again - it hasn't been done since the end of March - but, similar to 05, needs to wait a couple more weeks. To really get 2005 up to speed, however, they need to dive into the first third or so of the year - just two weeks prior to May have ever been done at all (2/12 and 4/23). |

Hope next weekend to close out August 2023 WBEL Mostly 90's does play a 1990's Rick Dees show and not a high school football game like last year! |
