This was reported a few places today. Heres a link to one of them: radiosyndicationtalk.com/radio-syndication-news/"Rick Dees Entertainment inks a new syndication deal with Debut Broadcastingfs Impact Radio Networks for broadcast and online content. The agreement with Dees will offer the f80s and f90s archive of gRick Dees Weekly Top 40 and a new Teen Top Twenty hosted by Deesf son, Kevin Dees. RDE will also provide content for station web sites, including streaming channels, podcasts and mobile apps." The "Teen Top 20" thing sounds like a future failure. Not sure about his 80s/90s shows. Definitely cheap to produce (they are already made). Sure hope he has a larger archive of 80's shows than they have at his website (there are only about 15 shows available to listen to there). When Dees 80s/90s shows were on satellite radio, I remember people in message boards complaining about the frequent shows from the late 80's often airing the same late 80's year two or more times in a row. I wonder how complete the Dees archive is and if those repeated years were the fault of XM or Dees. I know he doesn't have any top 40 shows before 1983. In reality, this isn't TOO much of a problem since 1981-1982 were kind of odd years for top 40 radio anyway and aren't as closely identified with 80's music. But for the 80's show to be a great show, they would definitely have to find more 1983-1985 shows somewhere then satellite radio had access to...

When XM 9 reaired the Dees countdowns it seemed to me that 1998 and 1999 were done to death, while 1990-93 were largely overlooked. The 80s shows were heavy on the late part of the decade as well, though that was less of a problem to me since they were also playing AT40 with Casey, and the many 1988-89 shows filled a void not covered by AT40.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see these shows getting many affiliates.

I've got a pile of Dees shows from 1994-1997 that I saved from a radio station trashcan, though I wonder why years later.
Dees is forgettable...so is his syndicated show....and very dated. Casey is more of an emotional connection and even though it's a bit dated, having an emotional connection will be the focus of the nostalgia. Dees is far more morning show fare, in the moment with topical and dated material. same goes for seacrest and the current AT40. I can't see that being overly interesting 20 years down the road. The mainstream media is so superficial and disposable today it's kinda sad.

Even when all those old Dees shows originally aired, people seemed to always joke about Rick and the WT40. Frankly, I am surprised that there would be any interest in them years later. Maybe people like it for nostalgic purposes and can ignore the silliness.
As far as Kevin Dees' show goes, Rick.com has had the same particular show available for some time now. Guess it was just an ad to potential affiliates. However I would think that their target would be a kids-oriented station, but then Disney already has their own countdown.

However I would think that their target would be a kids-oriented station, but then Disney already has their own countdown. What will probably happen is the affiliates that choose to air the show (and I don't think there will be many) will play it early in the morning just like the "Fox Kids Countdown" was. For affiliates that play Dees or AT40 at 7 or 8am, you'll probably see this show pop up and played before it.
