Despite there've been some acts that had more Top40 or Top10 hits than Michael Jackson, he got the top spot of the decade. What would have the Top 40 Acts of the 90's looked like, if it was interesting enough for AT40 to do it at that time? You know that Casey used a formula combining the number of Top40, Top10 and Chart Topping hits and their peak positions when compiling the 80's decade special... So who had the most Top40/Top10/No1 hits in the 90's?

Without a shadow of a doubt: Mariah Carey. Followed closely by Madonna, Janet Jackson, Boyz II Men, Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette, Backstreet Boys and TLC.

First of all, I know it's just an estimation, so take this with a grain of salt. But certain placements are just indicative of how CHR/Top 40 radio really struggled during a good part of the decade.
Some examples:
*Bryan Adams at #18, when "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" aside, his peak period is commonly associated with the 80's. *Madonna's placement makes her seem like a much bigger act than she actually was during most of the decade. *The non-appearance of some other really big-selling, mass-appeal stars of the decade (e.g.: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Garth Brooks, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, etc.)
