The best thing about the shows from 1970 is his over the top inflections during the intros.

November 25, 1978 this week. Yes. Love me some '78! First one since the Frozen 14 countdown the weekend of August 20th and 21st. Pay close attention to #6.

And as a special "bonus" yesterday afternoon, someone at SXM made a mixing error in which the full "Shuckatoom" theme played out in the background while the next song in the station's regular rotation (Carole King's "I Feel the Earth Move") played. If you've ever wondered how Carole would sound singing that song to a disco beat, this was the place to find out.

Same thing happened last weekend. The theme played out while Crocodile Rock was playing!

Hearing the full ending theme to the 12/2/72 show was great, except it was ruined by playing the next song over it (On Saturday it was the Eagles, today it was the Electric Light Orchestra). Why can't XM get a clue?

I was really suprised it happened 2 weeks in a row! It just sounds terrible! Though the actual AT 40 shows are great to listen to.

The songs from the AT40 Archives for 12/15/79 were:
"Play That Funky Music" Wild Cherry "A Fifth Of Beethoven" Walter Murphy "Disco Duck" Rick Dees
#1 songs by one-hit wonders.

Year-End American Top 40 Countdown: Top 80 of 1972
We end 2016 with a special American Top 40 edition from the ‘70s. Casey Kasem counts down the ‘Top 80 Songs of 1972’. Over 4 hours of hits from the longest year – ever! A pair of leap seconds were added to the clock. Tricky Dick aka President Richard Nixon ordered NASA to build the Space Shuttle. And the biggest hit of the year, was featured in an extended romantic scene in Clint Eastwood’s ‘Play Misty For Me’ already screening in theaters when the year began. Shhh! No spoilers! And where were you…in ’72?
12/31 Noon, 1/1 9am, 1/2 Midnight
