So what will they play next week? Top 50 of the decade?

So what will they play next week? Top 50 of the decade? I don't know. If they allot two weeks for year (or decade) end shows, then that would make sense, as would the top 40 of 1971 or 1973. But this also might be their only week of playing such a show; last year they played the complete top 100 of 1978 all in one session, and that was the only year end countdown they did, so we might get a regular one next week.

One interesting thing to note about SiriusXM's current airing of the 12/29/79 show is that they are running it "unbutchered." They've left in the split logos and are playing full end-hour themes. Some of the songs may be edited, but that may be how the show originally ran. It's very rare to get a SiriusXM broadcast that doesn't rip apart the split logos and end hour/beginning hour sequence. I wonder if the person responsible for butchering these shows is on vacation this week.

Maybe since we all complain about it, they are editing less?

Very interesting, listening to the show now and the bumpers are there, which I figured they left because the show is so tight that they couldn't really edit them without cutting off Casey. But after the first hour the them is played, which they could have easily edited out, or at the very least shortened considerably, but it's all there. The only thing they changed that I can tell is the SXM logo between the bumpers. Let's hope this is the new trend for the upcoming year. Let's also hope that next week we get the Top Hits of the 70's countdown even though it's technically a 1980 show.

But the cuing points of the songs were off. At each cuing point, a tiny fraction of a second was lost -- not enough to ruin the song, but just enough to be noticeable.

SXM last played the Top 50 of the 70s countdown on 70s on 7 the weekend of January 1-2, 2011, so it's entirely possible they would do it again...

Wow!! This is mind blowing--iheart radio and SXM are both playing the Top 100 of 1977. One of my favorite years for pop music:)

Will they split or take it to number 1 They haven't played this since 2007-08 where they did split it into two weekends.

Casey makes a detailed explanation of why "You Are the Woman" makes the survey. Ironic since as vince has pointed out, "The Wreck of the Ed Fitz" which did not make it, should have. These songs debuted back to back in the same week too.

Last year they did the entire 1978 countdown in one shot. Apparently this came as a surprise though to the staff as JayBeau said Shen his show started that if he'd known he didn't need to be in until three hours into his show he wouldn't have come in when he did.
