Leading into Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street", at #2, on 7/15/78 Casey told a story about how Scotland, Rafferty's home country, had produced more #1 recording acts for its population than any other country in the world. I wonder if this was the week "Baker Street" originally was supposed to be at #1, but was then blocked by "Shadow Dancing" after some last-minute changes that were apparently done for some very dubious-sounding reasons (see the "Chart Manipulations" thread.) There was no story leading into "Shadow Dancing", just a readoff of the #1's on the other charts.

Does anyone know WHY SXM stopped pre-announcing which AT40 show will air on the upcoming weekend?

They seem to be playing the shows in order by year lately. Three weeks ago it was 1971, then '72, '73 and now '74. I'm guessing next week will be '75 (just going out on a limb here). And they just played '74 a month again. They must not like the late 70's shows much, they avoid them like the plague. 5 outta the last 6 weeks have been mid 70s or later. I like to think they read my complaints and fixed the problem!! ;P

The 07/24/76 show had at least 7 duos on the chart:
Brothers Johnson Seals and Crofts Elton John and Kiki Dee Captain and Tennille Carpenters England Dan and John Ford Coley Hall and Oates
Is that a record?

Does anyone know WHY SXM stopped pre-announcing which AT40 show will air on the upcoming weekend? There's been speculation that it might have to do with the leaking of last year's PRN list and the mandate that the show schedule not be made available to the public (at least it somewhat coincides with this, since it all started at the beginning of this year). However, not announcing the shows in advance at all doesn't really make sense--even Premiere announces the upcoming weekend's shows by the prior Monday at the latest.

Can't recall last time XM aired a show with a calendar date > air date. Coincidentally it was a 1974 show. In this case May 18, 1974, aired May 17, 2014

In this case May 18, 1974, aired May 17, 2014 Actually it was 6/22/74, aired on June 21. 1974 was the only year in the 70s with the weekend dates coming one day after this year's (August 2 is a Saturday in 2014; August 3 was in 1974). I guess SXM made it the exception to the policy of playing chart dates on or before this year's initial airdates, so as not to end up playing shows that to Sunday listeners are a full week behind the airdate.

Disappointed in the choice of 8/03/74 here, as there were quite a few repeats from the previous 1974 show, 6/22. Could have featured 1973 or, absent that, 1977.

August 6, 1977 this week. (At this pretty much relieves me of the need to hear Premiere's B show.)
