Shadster, On dates.......from the debut in 1970 until May 1, 1971 there is confusion on dates. What happened is that AT40 had the Billboard charts a week in advance so the July 4, 1970 show aired the July 11, 1970 chart, etc. So....I reference all of my shows by Billboard chart date meaning the first show in my collection is July 11, 1970.
To fix this, AT40 aired its first special on May 1, 1971 to take out the 'extra' week. after that (i.e. May 8, 1971) the chart date and airing weekend were the same.

I am really enjoying the AT40 marathon. I have listened mostly to the 70's channel because I've never heard the early and mid 70's countdowns. The only major glitch I noticed was on the 8/29/70 show, they skipped Cracklin Rosie by Neil Diamond at #40. They may have done this on purpose because they just played Cracklin Rosie in the previous show, 11/11/78, as part of the archives feature. Not complaining at all, just relaying info. Keep up the good work, XM.

Doug,
On that 8-29-70 show, what time of day did that start? I heard Cracklin' Rosie start off a show at #40 around 2:30 c.s.t or so this afternoon....

It was around 3:30 eastern time. I am listening to XM online because i'm not a subscriber, so it's possible that the online feed may be different.

They played the LP version of "Top of the World".

Ohhhhhhhhh...they scoped Cracklin' Rosie? I was still listening to Casey's intro when I got out of the vehicle. That's a shame if they edited it out, regardless of it had been a feature in the previous program or not.

XM is doing a great job on both channels. I thought at first they (80s on 8) would simply play those they did on Casey Kasemas (Bruce Kelly's fiasco) from 3 yrs ago but they have played several that I haven't heard at all.
On the 70s, I wish they would play more from the mid 1970s (1974, 1975, 1976). Maybe they did overnite but I haven't heard any today. Overall XM(both channels) are doing a good job and Shannon the shows you remastered for Premiere and through them XM are 100%. WTG!!!
So far so good on the copying since 10:30a today. Using Advanced Sound Recorder now(on both computers) and things are much better. Used it on the computer copying the 80s and caught all from 7p Fri to 7a Sat but 70s before 10:30a lost. If the electricity goes off again like it did this morning at 7am, ASR will save what I have automatically. No more using Sound Forge for recording(used it on 70s until this morning)-it's good for editing though.
Right now: 70s: Apr 14 1979, 80s-Oct 4 1986 both are good shows

XM goofup just now on the 4-14-79 show... they went straight from Casey's outro of #34 ("Crazy Love") into the start of the LDD song ("When I Need You"), skipping over the reading of the letter itself... then at the end of the segment ("Casey's Coast to Coast...") they went back to the letter, and then into the intro of the next segment.

I guess whoever loaded that show into the XM computer got some tracks switched around, although how that could happen is a mystery (I would assume Shannon had them in the correct order, so it should be a pretty straightforward transfer on XM's part).

I provided the shows by segment to Premiere as they were segmented on the LPs/cue sheets. That is, there might be 2 or 3 songs together. What XM is doing, and let's be patient with them....is taking those segments and breaking them down track by track (song by song) so that they can add the artist/title info.
So.......they're trying to a good thing but in keeping everything in order and working so fast to get everything up and going for this weekend, it looks like a glitch got through here and there. Just be polite and write them a note to let them know. They'll be glad to fix it and get it right ;-)
On why you're hearing what you're hearing...that's my fault...I started restoring shows in chronological order so they're HEAVY as you can tell on 1970, 1971 and 1979. They have essentially nothing from 1972-1978 except for a show here and there.
My task this week and next is to master up shows from Sep through December for 1972-1978 to give them more variety from the middle of the decade so that they can air Sep shows in Sep, Oct shows in Oct, etc.
Based on what I had provided with them, they're doing a great job hopping around to not hear a lot of the same songs in 2 shows back to back.
So....be patient....there will be more of 1974, 1972, etc. in the weeks to come!!

Shannon, do you know if there are any plans to run the specials and the end of the year countdowns? Again, it should be said, GREAT JOB! I just emailed both the 70s and 80s and thanked them profusely for carrying the shows.

I am listening on and off to both channels. Have thier been any repeats of shows, or are they all different? Also, is anyone able to post a list of what shows have been played in Chron order at this point. Thanks

Thanks for the kind comments.......I don't want to speak out of place but I would say it's safe to say you will see the year ends at the end of the year, appropriately, some of the specials, guest hosts and even Shadoe ;-)
