I think that's pushing it for Casey to say Hotlegs are on the chart in 1975 as 10cc. It's like saying Free is on the chart as Bad Company. Hotlegs evolved into 10cc as Free evolved into Bad Company but they are separate entities IMO.

I listened a bit to this one today. (I have a rental car with XM)
Hated the way he cut off Jive Talkin and the edit of Elton John's Someone Saved My Life Tonight.
Not a bad show otherwise, except for the usual XM butchering!

So I don't think it's that much of a stretch.

It'll be the countdown from July 30, 1977, according to SXM. Just noted in case people were expecting August 6, 1977, which in calendar terms would have lined up better with this coming weekend.

Kind of a surprise...I was assuming that we would hear 8/6/77. Not only closer to the Aug. 4th/5th dates this weekend, but 7/30/77 is obviously not even in the same month. Guess we get to hear the theme from Rocky one more time!

SXM is not strict like Premiere in playing shows from the same month. Glad they are not; July 1977 was the only month that any of the 3 series can play that I had never heard a show from before.
And the reason they played this show over say the one for 8/6 is that this is the week that the year's #1 song hit the top.

^However, SXM appears to be strict in that they will not play a yearly AT40 show that post dates the current weekend (i.e., not playing 8/06/77 as it follows the current w/e of 8/04-8/05). If anyone knows of a situation where this has occurred, kindly let me know .

They will do it if the show is dated one day after the current date. They played the 5/27/78 show on 5/26 this year.

^Yes, SXM will play an AT40 show with a current year's Sunday date on that particular weekend. This also happened more recently with the 7/22/72 show airing over the w/e of 7/21-7/22/2012 .

So for the first time since last October, SXM and Premiere will combine to air back to back shows. They did shows from 1979 that time.

Actually, if memory serves me correctly, this will be the first weekend since July 31, 2010 that we will get the same year from both networks in the same weekend (when both aired 7/29/78). The 1979s last October were aired in consecutive weekends rather than the same weekend. At least this time around each will be airing a different show...

^The consensus from the "AT40: The 70s...This Week's Show" thread is that Premiere will be airing the AT40 show from 8/08/70, based on the 8/15/70 chart date. If SXM's next show date will be 8/08/70, that should likewise correspond to the 8/15/70 chart. It appears that the same show will be broadcast by each provider, IMO .

^No, all the 70 and early 71 shows are always based on the chart date, not the date it was aired.

^Franky, thanks for the "heads up" about SXM's shows from that time period . (A bit confusing for a newbie such as myself.) Now I can catch "A Song of Joy" on SXM before it drops out of the top 40.

These back to back episodes of AT40 will start and end with "Rise" as it was #3 in last week's top 3 to start the 10/13/79 show and will 'rise' to #1 to conclude the 10/20/79 show. I think the "Goodbye Girl" WAS the song that more fit that dedication story! It's not like they are reunited at the time of the LDD. wahoo, this DID happen last October where SXM played the week of 10/13/79 and Premiere the week of 10/20/79. We all made a big deal out of it because IIRC, it had not happened like that before. So just as then SXM is playing the earlier week's show and Premiere is playing the later week's show because SXM tends to plays shows from before the anniversary date while Premiere tends to do the opposite.
