The 7/03/71 AT40 show is noteworthy in that it includes: two songs by the same recording act; and the same song charted separately by two different recording acts. Also, one recording artist charted consecutively numbered hits; one solo and another with his brothers.

FYI, Casey just mentioned that AT40 began a year ago on 7 stations and is now heard on 118 stations.

Another Casey hypnotic moment for me. I loved his storytelling about the Indian Reservation story. Pretty freaky if you ask me. Those Cherokee Indians sure had a lot of anger in those times.

It turns out that the whole story about John D Loudermilk (the songwriter) and why he wrote "Indian Reservation" was a hoax. Loudermilk told the lie in response to being woken up after midnight by a telephone call from one of the AT40 writers.

Off the top of my head, I can't remember another fake story given in AT40 history. ?

There was the fictional bio of "Humpty Hump' (Shock G of Digital Underground) in 1990, and IIRC, there was a bio of Seal given when he first hit with 'Crazy' that attempted to 'mystify' the presence of his facial scars. Of course, these were from Shadoe's era, where he already had a 'flair for the dramatic' in his presentation, but he delivered these stories 'straight'.

Is it 7/10/76? (or the following week?)

I remember that. It was the Sunday night airing IIRC which is real late here on the east coast!
A lot of 60s connections on the 7/10/76 show. #38 is the Four Seasons, #37 is Lou Rawls whose career covers all of the 60s, #35 is produced by Curtis Mayfield who led a top soul group of the 60s, the Impressions, #34 is a cover a Beach Boys song, #15 is the Beach Boys current hit, #10 is the Beatles, #4 is a cover of a Miracles songs and at #1 is the second instance of a 2 man, 2 woman group hitting #1. The first? In 1966 by the Mamas and Papas.

Yes it was released in 1969 but it was in the top 10 for 6 of its 7 weeks in 1970! Zeppelin's biggest hit!

... and ABBA (2 men, 2 women) followed in early 1977 with "Dancing Queen."

As Yosemite Sam would say - sasem, frasem, rasem. My sound card went bad Saturday morning. I got a new card and finally configured and working mid Sunday morning. I got the Sirius XM 07/10/76 broadcast at 9AM and the Premiere 07/19/86 broadcast from 2PM-6PM.
And I got the Premiere 70's broadcast from WORC in Worchester, MA at 7PM. But for some reason they broadcast 7/21/79 instead of 07/15/72 like other stations. The best I could find after that were fair to poor quality broadcasts from NM and TX respectively.
Fellow fans have helped me out a couple times - if anyone could help me with the 07/15/72 broadcast it would be greatly appreciated. I'm just a fan and I record these for my own enjoyment. If you can help, please email me at TZMAC@aol.com.
Thanks, Tim

Premiere has never aired 7/21/79 (though this was the second airing of 7/14/79 with the first airing happening just a year ago).

I got a nice reply from the WORC program manager. He said this was one of a few weeks during the year when Premiere gives them a choice of shows to broadcast - 72 or 79.
He said he was actually on vacation so the pick fell to another, but I got the feeling we woud have gone with the 72 show - since the previous week they had aired the July 4th special from 1979 - the top disco acts.
I asked if the 72 show would air this weekend - he said no, would be the Premiere show for this week, which I believe is 1978.
