I just listened to XM's rebroadcast of "American Top 40" from November 12, 1977, and I noticed that there were several times where when Casey would normally say, "Now, on with the countdown", they had a jingle using this phrase instead. The jingle was in the style of one of the AT40 commercial-outro jingles being used at the time. What I'd like to know is how long did AT40 use this "On with the countdown" jingle (when did they start and when and/or why did they stop).

Does anyone know why they repeat the same year within the same month, thereby assuring around 80% song overlap? Is it a lack of remastered shows? Also, did anyone else notice flaws on today's 6/29/85 show? Each song seemed to have a little blip right after Casey stopped talking. [sorry about the complaints. I really am extremely grateful for the opportunity to hear these shows!]

For the 80's channel, it says January 1, 1980 will air next week, but there was no show with that air date, and if there were, it would be the year-end for 1979.
What's the deal?

Maybe it's supposed to be January 12, and they inadvertently left off the "2".

Personally, I wish the "0" was the typo.

I don't want to start complaining, either, as I'm happy the shows are on XM in the first place...but this kind of editing makes the shows sound "odd" to me.

Today (sun) they ran the show for the week ending Aug 6th 1988, so I guess they'll run that in place of the thursday re-run as well.

I am just thrilled to find out they are running old shows--wish I had found out sooner...any idea if they are going to end up doing all of the 70s year end shows. I just pulled out my old 76 year end show and wish I had converted it to disc early--my TDK cassettes are holding up great, can't say the same about BASF!...very bummed I missed out on 76 already.

It seems that XM 80's is butchering the shows. They cut off the closing theme after Casey says "stars" and now they are cutting off the "Casey's Coast To Coast" logos. I wonder why they are doing that. It ruins the whole flow of the show. I like the way the 70's channel runs the show better.

So true. I heard about the final hour of yesterday's rebroadcast of a show from February 1984 on XM 8, and it just plain sounds bizarre. Hardly heard "modern day Casey" drops either.
Like I said earlier, I'm glad XM is running the shows...but I'm disappointed at what XM 8 is doing to them.
