Three big 'Wardlow drops' on this chart: ARS, Steve Martin, and Jackson Browne all fell out of the 40 from their peaks at 14, 17, and 20. Plummeting to 51, 57, and 58.

8/26/78 is notable because it featured the debut of the "Long Distance Dedication" which Casey did until his retirement in 2009-However,when "Casey's Top 40" was launched in early 1989,he wasn't permitted to use that title-Instead,he had to say "Request & Dedication"-I'm thinking that "Long Distance Dedication" was the intellectual property of ABC/Watermark-When Casey re-launched "AT40"in 1998,he got the rights back to "LDD".

I'm not a huge Streisand fan but that Eyes of Laura Mars song gets me every time. Had the movie done better the song might have. The film, starring Faye Dunaway, bombed. Although being from a flop film didn't hurt everyone's favorite, 'YLUML'.

Eyes of Laura Mars also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Brad Dourif and René Auberjonois, it's written by John Carpenter, then its director is Irvin Kershner! PS-Barbra Streisand was originally suppose to star in the title role.

I got the album for that song, but it turns out the whole album is actually pretty good.

Starring Brooke Shields, Beatrice Straight, James Spader, Tom Cruise, Jami Gertz and Richard Kiley we spared no expense! Had no idea Cruise was in that turkey! For a minute or two. And the original "Endless Love" film was at least modestly successful at the box office, grossing $32 million. Its poor reputation may stem at least in part from the mostly bad reviews. And yet it was remade, less successfully, in 2014. Ultimately the song is probably more favourably remembered than either film, and maybe the book. And speaking of well remembered film turkeys, when "Endless Love" was a hit in 1981 the movie was joined at the box office by "Mommie Dearest", starring the aforementioned Faye Dunaway, which even she doesn't think too well of. The performances in Mommie Dearest were so over the top that within a few weeks of its release it was being marketed as a camp comedy; Faye's only mention of it in her autobiography was a comment that director Frank Perry should have had a better sense of when to tell actors to rein things in.

Funny you mention "Mommie Dearest". Which I saw in '81, and laughed heartily throughout. Right before going online tonight I was sorting through a large pile of clothes hangars. Yes, wire hangars! Joan Crawford would NOT have approved.

Joan Crawford would NOT have approved. Christina Crawford, daughter of Joan and who wrote the book from which the movie is based, was initially to write the screenplay for the movie. When she submitted it, the studio rejected it for not being what they wanted. They studio eventually hired a new screenwriter which produced what became the movie. Christina did not like the movie either saying they twisted things so much and portrayed her mother as some sort of grotesque freak. It skipped the point that Joan was battling her own demons and was not equipped to raise children.
