Fixing a mistake aired on the show broadcast on SiriusXM--
Right before Casey played the #1 pop single , he announced the #1's on the Billboard's other charts and said there was a double sided hit at the top of the Country & Western chart--Grandma Harp/Turnin' Off A Memory (but failed to mention the artist)--Merle Hagard & The Strangers.

I guess AT40 counted "Get Back" as Billy Preston's first top 40 record, as Casey says that "Outa-Space" at #40 is his second.

'Soul' was big in '72--the top 8 on this chart are all on the Soul Singles chart. All of the top 10 except Ringo and America!

The station I was listening on that Sunday afternoon in May '72 got a 'great radio stations' mention--1330 KHYT Tucson.

FYI, there was one other time when there was such an 8 song streak. And I never found a longer streak in AT40 history. On 12/15/73, #17 through 10 were soul songs, bookended by the only artists to appear in both of these streaks, the Stylistics at #17 and the Staple Singers at #10.

It’s horrible, dead air, random DJ intros, the display says “Top Albums Of 1972”.
