Real soon, school will be back in session and that means we will have Friday night high school football during the fall.
I'm wondering if there is any info on when KQLL will air high school this year and does anyone know the first brodcast of the year?

I'm wondering if there is any info on when KQLL will air high school this year and does anyone know the first brodcast of the year? According to Kevan Seal, Program Director of KQLL, the high school football games on Friday evening will be broadcasted this year on their main airwave signal only but NOT on their webstream. On their webstream, the AT40 The 80s shows will be broadcasted as usual on Friday evening (as well as Saturday morning) even during the football season

Hmm. Anybody remember if the high school games were streamed last year?
Good to know that KQLL will still have AT40: The 80s at least online. Love listening to the show on Friday nights.

That is great news, upland1425. Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad that I'll be able to continue listening to AT40: The 80s on Friday nights. Always a great way to cap off the week! Thanks again!

Yes, the high school games were streamed at KQLL last year. The regular season is from early September through mid-November. But their local team is quite strong. Last year, they went to the playoff and then all the way to the final. Eventually, AT40: The '80s was not streamed on Friday night for 3 months and was back on December 12. Based on their new policy, this is not the case for this year. Enjoy!

Am I right? Also, what time does KQLL air AT40: The 80s on Saturday mornings (Eastern Time please)?

I'm guessing this isn't the same Kevan Seal that was an MTV VJ. Am I right? Kevan Seal, Program Director and Morning show anchor at KQLL, worked for, among others, WBEB-FM (B101) in Philadelphia and WPLJ-FM in New York, before he moved to Tulsa, OK, where his parents live, in 1998. While his radio history on the website does not refer to the MTV, I am not suprised if he used to do VJ for MTV in light of his career in this industry and of the fact that he recently started a new Saturday night show "Automatic 80's", a show that brings the music of the old MTV back to the radio. www.kooltulsa.com/pages/kevan.htmlHe is a huge fan of Casey Kasem and American Top 40 and eventually started the "Classic Top 40" format at KQLL. www.kooltulsa.com/pages/amtop40.html

The info on the website is a little hard to decipher. It looks like they're saying that once again they will go back to broadcasting AT40 the 80s after the High School Football season is over.

Let's hope so - at least that's what they did last year.

Actually it's "Aftyer" the season, lol! But seriously, it looks like I'll have to go back to listening to the show on The River on weeks where the show is anything from 1982 or after. As for weeks with 1980 and 1981 shows, I guess I'll forego 20: The Countdown Magazine those weekends. I just don't know what The River has against 1980 and 1981 shows (I wonder if they were one of the stations that complained to Premiere about the shows from the early years during AT40 Flashback, forcing them to decide to cut those years from the mix in 2002).

Personally I would not rely on WRVF for what you just stated and they also cut extra songs that were not from the 1980's (they'll probably cut the Roberta Flack LDD for this reason I'll bet). I have not yet been able to listen but hopefully I'll try sometime later tonight. Only chance I've got since I'll be out of town Tomorrow.

Well, I agree that WRVF isn't very reliable, but it's the only station that airs it at a convenient time, when I'm not listening to something else. It might cut non-80s songs from the show, but as long as they're running the scheduled show, that's OK with me. But on the weeks that they run shows from 1980 or 1981, I'll catch the Saturday morning broadcast on KQLL, in lieu of 20: TCM. That is, until football season is over with.
P.S. BTW, they did play the Roberta Flack LDD (so I hope when you said "I'll bet" that you didn't actually lay any money on it, lol!)
I'm glad they didn't cut it, because the dedication was very heartwarming. A guy who the author originally disliked because of his bad singing voice actually became her husband.
