This weekend's AT40 is guest hosted by Katy Perry. Btw, she is reported to be one of guest judges of American Idol Season 9 filling in for Paula Abdul (who will not be back to the show this autumn).

Katy also got the special distinction of announcing her own hit ("Waking Up In Vegas") at #1. Has this ever happened before?

Katy Perry appeared on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" last night-She answered one question correctly-The money she earned went towards her favorite charity.

Katy also got the special distinction of announcing her own hit ("Waking Up In Vegas") at #1. Has this ever happened before? Do you mean introducing their one song at #1 or just introducing one of their songs in general? Because when Richard Marx guest hosted in 1992, his song "Keep Coming Back" was on the chart at the time. It wasn't at #1, but I just wanted to make sure if you meant only #1 songs.

I meant only #1 songs. I know that several artists have guest hosted before when they had hits in the countdown, but I don't know of any others who did so when they were at #1.

This one gets an asterisk, but Debbie Gibson had the pleasure of announcing her 1988 hit "Foolish Beat" at #1 exactly one year later (during an AT40 Flashback the week she guest hosted). But I believe Katy does stand alone in that category.
