This is being posted out of the 70s- and 80s-show threads for a very obvious reason.
If you've ever heard the "mystery announcer" who is increasingly pinch-hitting for Mike Kasem on these shows, have you ever noticed how slowly and methodically he reads compared to Mike or, for those familiar with him, Ed McMann?
Now think about this...
Could this be a synthesized voice from a computer?

That could be interesting (not to mention cheap):
One thing to point out: When this voice did the voiceover for the June 9, 1973 he ended with "Thanks for listening". But on the shows that aired the last two weeks (7/10/1982, 7/9/1988, and 7/19/1975), the voice ended with "...and of course, Casey Kasem."

I have a couple of guesses as to who the mystery voice might be:
1. Joe Cipriano 2. Marc Summers (former host of Double Dare)
Number 2 is probably a longshot, but it kinda sounds like him.

I have a couple of guesses as to who the mystery voice might be: 1. Joe Cipriano Well, he has a connection to the show, being the only guy to have filled in for both Casey and D'Shadoe. His web site bills him as "America's premiere voice-over talent" {rimshot}... But I'm prolly not the first to accuse 'Cip' of being a machine... :D

Actually, the "mystery" voice belongs to Larry Morgan.

Has Mike Kasem been let go by Premiere or is he on vacation?

I believe mr.jukebox guessed this last month so congrats!
As for Mike, I hate to say this but he is likely done with Premiere. Supposedly Premiere cleaned house with anything relating to Casey and or the Kasem clan following the demise of AT10/20. The PetSmart ads don't even have Casey on them anymore.

Too bad that Mike Kasem was shown the door-I honestly thought he was going to stick around a little longer.

Actually, the "mystery" voice belongs to Larry Morgan. Gee, I was soooo hoping it was Cip... It would have seemed a perfect move, except that I don't know that Premiere could afford him...

Here's an OLD demo from Larry...note the cartoon show he refers to...and the defunct TV network as well... voice123.com/larrymorgan

My favorite from the montage was the B-94 Pittsburgh Penguins promo (which after quick research was from 1999).

Now, the question is — will Larry Morgan identify himself in the pre- and post-show promos?
For instance: "And now, the Premiere Radio Networks proudly presents Casey Kasem's 'American Top 40: The 70s,' brought to you by PetSmart and OnStar. I'm Larry Morgan, and this week's presentation is from August 4, 1979." (Note: A fake show date added, because my bet is Ed McMann's voice will be heard on the July 25, 1970 show we'll hear this weekend).

WHNN's cue sheet from this week's 1983 show ends with "...and of course, Casey Kasem." so that likely means no but at least we now know who the guy is.

Larry Morgan was the executive producer of the "AT40 Flashback" series back in '01/'02, IIRC. So it would seem he had some affiliation w/ AT40 before.

See, I didn't think this was the same Larry... the one you refer to was an executive with ClearChannel/Premiere, AFAIK he's no longer with the company... the voiceover Larry happens to be from LA, where Premiere is based.
