Regarding the story that aired on ABC World news July 5th:
I was disappointed! First off, anchor Dan Harris says that Casey's departure came with "little advance notice"; uhhh??? It's been industry buzz for the last few months! I was not surprized that Casey himself did not give an interview for the report. There were some quick bites from Jean Kasem and Ryan Seacrest. Harris called the original show "America's Top 40" instead of "American Top 40". ABC goofed this one up!

Yeah. I wanted to complain about the report too but I wanted to wait to see if anybody else noticed this. ABC should set the facts straight on when Casey's retirement was announced. A lot of us here knew Casey was leaving like a month ago.

The online ABC News article on Casey adds that he is considering writing his memoirs.

At least we can give credit to ABC for devoting three minutes to the story. Did any other TV newsers give it more than a blip?

I wouldn't complain, I thought it was a fair report....
Outside the industry, for the average casual listener (which most of you aren't no offense intended) it would be a surprise. There wasn't much fanfare. unless you were looking for it, you wouldn't find a mention. In fact, if it wasn't for me coming to this board when I did, I would have missed it. I thank you all for that. I'm far from a hard core fan these days as I was in my teens, but certainly respect the show and enjoy the reruns on sirius/XM.
Second, as I recorded it, I had a chance to watch it again, and it was clearly noted that Casey didn't want to give an interview, so it seems jean stepped in and said a few things, which I thought were appropriate.
All too often events like this go out with a flicker if at all for the sake of time and money, yet premiere did it with taste and class, like himself. The ABC report was also a nice touch. We all wish there was more, but I understand why. I hope you also do.

I guess you got it, snarfdude, I've noticed those little mistakes but in general, it was very nice they even did it and I must admit I have seen it at least ten times since yesterday along with different friends of mine who also like Casey up until now but also wouldn't know otherwise.

Does ABC News have the coverage of Casey's farewell on their website?

Just saw the story on Casey's final weekend of counting down the hits-Wish it could've been a little longer.

"Industry buzz" does not translate to the general public having any idea. I expect there were a ton of people, just like the story said, that didn't know until Casey said it on the air at the beginning of the show.
