Did anyone else get the impression Ryan was saying goodbye to Casey Kasem without explicitly saying goodbye?

Didn't hear it -- what did he say?

I only listened to the end of the show because of this post. And indeed, Ryan did make a mention about the very first number one song on AT40 in 1970 and also gave nice credit to both Casey Kasem and Don Bustany.

A few years ago, Ryan played a clip of Casey introducing Mama Told Me Not To Come. I think it was 2005. I wondered if Ryan would say anything about Casey's final shows, as he occasionally will bring Casey up on AT40.

I don't much care for Ryan's version of AT40, but he's always been quick to credit Casey and thank him over the years. He didn't actually say goodbye, but did thank Casey for passing the torch, as well as noting AT40's birthday and the first Number One song, "Mama Told Me" by Three Dog Night. So kudos to Seacrest.

Yes - after hearing the close of the show, I do believe that was Ryan's way of saying goodbye to Casey. He definitely had some emotion in his voice, and spent the last 45 seconds of the show talking about him.

Sounds nice, and a well deserved gesture. Whatever you think of Ryan Seacrest, he gives credit where it's due, often calling Casey "the legend" when mentioning his name in the credits. Unfortunately, DC-area listeners didn't get to hear this, as Hot 99.5 struck yet again; this time the countdown somehow cut off after song #3, leaving us on Saturday morning with fifteen minutes of dead air. On the Sunday rebroadcast the matter was "fixed" by starting the countdown fifteen minutes late, still with no top two or Casey tribute.
