Hey folks! For those of you who listen to the Minneapolis radio show Crap From The Past hosted by my good buddy Ron Gerber, you're gonna want to tune into this week's show. Ron is doing his own tribute to Casey Kasem. Back in 2003, he did a show on American Top 40's 33 1/3rd birthday. You can listen to the whole show here: www.archive.org/details/cftp-2003-11-14Crap From The Past airs live Friday nights from 10:30-midnight CT. Also, on last week's show, Ron did a tribute to Michael Jackson. He played some AT40 clips for this show as well. Here is the link for that MJ show: www.archive.org/details/cftp-2009-06-26

I love that show!! I will definitely be tuning in to tonight's show!! Also, today, Laura Branigan would have been 52 years old today, and about a week after her death, CFTP did a tribute show to her, and much like the Michael Jackson show last week, there were a lot of AT40 clips! www.archive.org/details/cftp-2004-09-03

Cool! Another Crap From The Past fan on the boards! Laura, I am the "Michael from New Jersey" Ron keeps talking about on the show all the time.

Well, to recap what happened this week, Ron played an LDD from an American Top 20 show a week or two back. It was the one with "Thank You For Being A Friend". Also, Ron played one of Casey's stories involving Roger Voudouris of "Get Used To It" fame. It was clear that Casey was getting annoyed at this story. Also, Ron ended the show by playing one of Casey's stories involving Martin Briley, who hit with "The Salt In My Tears". It seems that one of Martin's teachers was Arthur Brown from The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, who is known for the song "Fire". Oh, and Ron didn't forget to play the Snuggles tape, censored of course. The majority of this week's show included the whole version of Not The American Top 40, the infamous parody of AT40, & original AT40 commercials from 1982.

Why was Casey annoyed about doing a story about Roger Voudouris?

Why was Casey annoyed about doing a story about Roger Voudouris? Casey read Voudouris quotes from a magazine. The artist planned to be bigger than Johnny Mathis and Frank Sinatra and that he would be popular for years.

I listened to the show. It was really interesting to hear Not the American Top 40 in its entirety (one part I like was when Kasee Deecee said "right after this", then the jingle singers sang "THIS" before returning) since for the show back in 2003, Ron had a really bad-sounding recording that he got off of a radio station, and he now got a clean copy about six years later, and what Casey tribute show would be complete without the infamous "Snuggles" incident? lol

First off, I made a mistake. The LDD that Ron played was from the final American Top 20 show. I guess he got an advanced copy of the show. Secondly, here is this past weekend's show. It also includes a letter Ron wrote to Casey, along with images of the first & last AT40 charts Ron had in his binder. This is pretty cool: www.archive.org/details/cftp-2009-07-03

BTW, there was another episode of Crap From The Past where he played the Roger Voudouris clip. I forgot which episode it was though.

I finally figured out the other episode where they played the Roger Voudouris clip. It was the March 18, 2005 episode.
