Just heard the appropriate pieces of this coming weekend's AT20 show. I will not reveal details (I've been sworn to secrecy), and I ask that anyone else who hears the show before this coming weekend not do so either (nor for AT10).
BUT...
Do NOT miss the show. Truly one for the history books in many ways.
And OK...I'll answer ONE question. Yes, he says good-bye.
Don't miss it...as a "superfan," you WILL be moved.

I'm feeling nervous/anxious/excited/pretty much everything for this upcoming show. I'm pretty sure I'll be breaking out a box of fresh tissues at some point.
I wrote and sent in an LDD about 4 weeks ago to thank Casey for all he's done, and it would be pretty cool if it was played. If not, well, that's alright. The show enough will be exciting to hear one last time.

I've been listening to "AT10" for the past five years-Hard to believe that this'll be the final time we hear Casey count down the hits.

Here's an observation about this weekend's Top 20 chart, in particular, the last two songs in the countdown. I don't believe I'm giving anything away here, but if you'd prefer to wait for the show to make your own observations about the music, close this message now. If not, scroll down.
The closing line in the lyrics for the #2 song: "if today was your last day"
And the closing line in the #1 song: "sometimes goodbye is a second chance"
The chart itself appears to have set itself up in honor of Casey's last curtain call.

Now Pete, you have to truly appreciate how fortunate Casey was that he left AT40 back in January of 2004. If not, what would your observation have been about ending a career to the strains of "Boom Boom Pow", which will mark it's 5th week at #1 this coming weekend?

But I guess at least on AT20 it would ended "Here Without You" if I recall it correctly :-)

Just finished the show on OZ FM. The ending was really touching, I think Casey did a great job with it. It's still kind of weird to think that next week there will be no show, but I'm glad the show lasted for as long as it did. By the way, I wrote the LDD on this final show. I'm so happy it made it on to the final show.

I MISSED the OZ FM show this morning.....the 7-10 am NFLD time is not on the schedule listed here
HOWEVER....
According to a banner on the OZ FM page, there's a refeed at 10 PM- 1 am NFLD time (8:30 PM EST) sunday night....
As this is one of the few in atlantic canada that still runs the show, I'll set up to record off my satellite feed from OZ and hope for the best.
Not many canadian stations block US programming like this AT20 then AT40....then again it's OZ....it's not your typical canadian radio station..
I'll also try to get it off a few US streams this weekend as I usually do...but would like a decent quality copy of the "final" show....IE the show mp3's would be nice, but can't expect that now can I? LOL!!!
cue sheets?

Yes, the final show was very touching.
For you chart buffs one last time: Was there one final error on AT20 and AT10? "Alone" by Heart was a #1 Pop hit in 1987 and not 1985. He corrected himself at the end of the song on AT10 but I could have sworn he said 1985 on one of the shows.

Just finished listening to the show, and I can only say (as always) Casey did an excellent work: Definitely a show to remember! Appropriate LDD! Good choice of extras! Maybe a MJ tribute would've been appropriate as well (but can't expect that knowing the show was recorded before it all happened)... He really left us on TOP! Saying goodbye was in an appropriate manner and (as another great musical legend, Freddie Mercury once sang) The Show Must Go ON, even if radio waves will not be the same without the legend... Salute to Casey: All the best to Casey and thanks for 39 years of counting down the hits!!

if Bon Jovi wasn't the last song played, then WKZY screwed up the last show.

if Bon Jovi wasn't the last song played, then WKZY screwed up the last show. That station has unfortunately been doing this for a long time. I actually posted on this problem on June 1 see link below at40fg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=at20&thread=400&page=3I noticed in the weeks since I posted that message that the show would typically end between the #4 and #3 song. Apparently, the station never noticed or cared and their regular listeners did the same. Pity!!

I listened to the feed of the final AT20 on the Gainesville-area station that cut off the top two songs as well as the promised "look back at nearly 4 decades of counting down the hits". I'm now listening to another feed in hopes of actually hearing the end of the show. A lot of what's wrong with radio these days can be summed up by the shabby treatment the G'ville station gave the show, and this isn't the first time it's happened, as noted in an early posting on this site. A legendary broadcaster signs off for the final time, and he and his fans are treated like this. Absolutely criminal. The show itself was great, with Casey turning in a stellar performance. As Pete noted, the song at #2 was terribly ironic. The LDD was touching and I'm glad Casey read it. Thanks, Casey, for being there for me since I discovered AT40 in 1978. To say that you'll be missed is the understatement of the century. I'll always have my copies of your classic shows to listen to, but it's gonna take time to get used to you not being there with a new countdown every weekend. But at age 77, you've earned the right to do whatever you desire. Peace and love from a longtime listener and fan. Matt

Just finished listening to the final portion of the show. The look-back was a terrific, if short primer on the history of Casey's shows and included a special mention of Matt Wilson. And Casey's sign-off after the Number One song was humble and touching. Godspeed, Casey. We miss you already.
