As we all know there have been several great 80's specials Casey counted down on CT40, and the Top 40 Summer Hits of the 80's was one of those.
But let's narrow it a bit and what would the Top 10 Beach Hits look like, either of the 80's or of all time?

For all time, I have a feeling the Beach Boys would dominate the entire top 10.

I agree that the Beach Boys hits will dominate the list. So, here's my list other than the Beach Boys hits: 1). "Sailing" - Christopher Cross; 2). "All Out Of Love" - Air Supply; 3). "Every Breath You Take" - The Police; 4). "All Summer Long" - Kid Rock; 5). "Human Nature" - Michael Jackson; 6). "Sweet Baby" - Stanley Clark & George Duke; 7) "Electric Avenure" - Eddie Grant; 9). "Promises, Promises" - Naked Eyes; 10). "La Bamba" - Los Lobos.

Thanks for that, in fact, the Beach Boys are really the first act that comes to my mind too when thinking of sun and summer beach.
To the songs that have some associations with beaches for me (though they may not be the typical beach songs) I would add also these: "Our Last Summer" by ABBA "The Boys Of Summer" by Don Henley "Endless Summer Nights" by Richard Marx "Kiss You All Over" by Exile "La Isla Bonita" by Madonna "Walking On Sunshine" by Katrina & The Waves "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow "Summer Nights" by Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta "Come Sail Away" by Styx

I would add this song to the list:
"Beach Baby" - First Class (hit #4 in 1974)

For anyone who lives in the Carolinas or Virginia, "beach music" has a different meaning. It refers to music played in the beach clubs at Myrtle Beach, Ocean Drive, Virginia Beach, and other areas along the Southeast coast. Some Carolina beach music hits were big national hits, other songs did not hit big nationally but were played on the jukeboxes and beach clubs and became beach music classics. For example, you may know Give Me Just A Little More Time by Chairmen of the Board, a #3 pop hit in 1970, but you probably have never heard songs like Carolina Girls, Gone Fishin, and Bless Your Heart. The Chairmen are probably the second most popular beach music group of all time behind the Drifters. If anyone wants more info, go to www.beachshag.com. They have info on beach music history and origins. You can also listen to the Endless Summer Network which plays beach music old and new 24/7.

Maybe it's because both were hits during the summer. (1980 and 1983, respectively)
