I know production for the shows has ended, but what significant event today in the history of modern pop culture with the passing of Michael Jackson.
Although doubtful, I wonder if there is any chance at all Casey would head back into the studio to record a Michael Jackson tribute to insert into the final weekend's shows in a manner similar to the John Lennon show of December 1980. I doubt it, but, it is still early enough.

I would say this is too big not to go back and produce a tribute, but this is Premiere so who knows.

I'm definitely hoping that there will be a tribute on the final AT20/AT10. There is definitely more time after Michael's death to get a tribute in than there was with John Lennon, and his status is definitely big enough that it would be a disservice to not get in a tribute from Casey.

But, we have to keep in mind that the Premiere has the last word on this. I am sure that Casey is professional (and a true music lover) on his behalf, and will record a tribute, if he's asked to do it... The question is if Premiere finds it as important And the question is if we´ll hear a MJ tribute on AT40 (done by Ryan?) and if so, what would that sound like Ironically, with all of this happening (Casey's retirement, MJ death...) 2009 is starting to be a real "end of an (radio) era"

I think it would be great if AT40 invite Casey Kasem onto the show for at least a quick interview about how much impact Michael had on the past 4 decades of pop music.
Ryan looked pretty disheveled last night on E! when they were doing their live broadcast. He even had to shut off his female co-host when she started to go into speculation. It was clear the Ryan wanted to keep it professional and respectful. I have a feeling his tribute will be huge.

On Casey's onetime comeback to the studio, I doubt it's gonna happen when it's over. However, it would be great... but it's not 1980

American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest does a 2-minutes special tribute to Michael Jackson at the end of this week's show.

Is it the same for both Ryan's shows, I mean Pop and HAC versions of AT40?

Is it the same for both Ryan's shows, I mean Pop and HAC versions of AT40? I listened to the Pop version yesterday and will listen to Hot AC version show later today. But, according to the information I got, Hot AC version show also paid the special tribute, which seems to be (exactly or substantially) the same as the Pop version's.

I put in a request to save the show from my contact after airing....I believe they run the CHR version....he says he saw something about that....would be cool to get. the great thing about internet downloads, you can revise just one segment at the last minute and have stations grab it and still hit your airdate. I'm guessing CD versions of the shows (if they are still shipping CDR's) would not have the update.

Just one more remark on this, if you read Rob's book carefully, he says that back in 1980 there was another report on John Lennon recorded in the AT40 show thus the staff and Casey would sound foolish if they wouldn't re-record it after Lennon's death.
However, this wasn't the case this time as no Michael Jackson's mention was on either of two Casey's shows (his sister Janet was played in the final Spotlight I think but not him). No need, therefore, to re-record the shows what would have been quite complicated with Casey already being out.
