Posted by Paul on Yesterday at 10:34 What else did they air? Americas Top 10 was a half hour. Did they show "Smash Hits" also? No, WDIV did not air "Smash Hits" after Casey. The station had various shows they put on after Casey. It was either reruns of sitcoms, or game shows. For awhile it was the Gong Show. One year it was the final year of American Bandstand with Dick Clark. It was the syndicated year after ABC dropped American Bandstand. One year, WDIV had a show hosted by Casey Kasem, where he counted down the top ten other things besides music based on surveys. One week best TV show, next week best movie, then best actor, etc.... I can't remember the name of that show.l

Can anybodyh conferm for me that Casey's was hosting the show on e. I remember seeing a few times during early or about march of 1995. I think he used R&R some weeks he would use the pop chart and some the AC show. I rememb er seeing the fallowing videos Wild Night - John Mellincamp When I come around - Green Day I'm The Only One - Melissa Etheridge I think It was an hour show not the half hour format that was synicated in the 1980's and early 90's please somebody conferm i am right and not crazy. How long did this version last and when did it air was the a regular time slot. No, you are not nuts. This was a short-lived show that was I believe called "Casey's Top 10." Every week he counted down a different chart, which was bizarre...it looked very similar to the VH1 year end countdowns he did around the same era. Hope this helps!

Casey counted down the VH1 Top 50 of 1997. I didn't find out that it was on until he had played the first few songs(I think 50 and 49) but I have the rest of the show on VHS and I still listen to it from time to time.

There is a new America's Top 10 TV show on the You Tube website. It is from 1992. Go to www.youtube.com and type CASEY KASEM in the search box. For there, you will find the show broken down into 4 parts.

Just to clarify something listed on You Tube, as I have mentioned in tha past. This was last first run episode of America's Top 10, however the show ran special countdowns that had aired previously for the next couple of months before the show finally ended.
I have also mentioned the Mariah Carey #1 picture on America's Top 10 from back then. It is really freaky, it is a still picture of her with someone's nother mimmicking the words in place of her mouth. Check it out!

Now here is an interesting one. A Dean Martin roast. Casey appears as.... Hitler?!
Well, Pete, I guess that explains the Don Rickles - Dean Martin reference on 2/9/74.

Right you are, Tom! Casey made brief cameo appearances in two different Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. In the program where Don Rickles was roasted, Casey did indeed impersonated Hitler. Dean Martin then thanked Casey and mispronounced his last name. As an aside, Foster Brooks was hysterical in that show.
FYI -- Casey also appeared in Dean Martin's celebrity roast of Telly Savalas, impersonating Peter Falk's Columbo character.

Some interesting "new" Casey stuff on You Tube...there's the final AT10 show in four parts, plus a segment from David Letterman where Casey helps him out with the top 10 list...the topic being "the top 10 numbers from 1 to 10." Again, type "Casey Kasem" in the search box.

I have the America's Top 10 Christmas Countdown that Casey hosted from 1981. That particular show has the full version of Alvin & The Chipmunks doing "The Chipmunk Song" (In color). FYI: The later syndicated version aired with the addition of Band Aid's "Do They Know it's Christmas."

Yes, cdman - Casey did, in fact, host a top 10 show on E for a very short time. So short, that I only saw one show and the only video I remember seeing was by Jon Secada. Sorry I can't give you any specifics, but I can tell you you're not crazy.

The show on E! was quite good, but I think the reason it didn't work is the lack of continuity...every week was a different chart, so there was no way to follow the chart action via that show.

Back on topic....Is there anywhere I can see episodes of Casey's "America's Top 10" shows from the early 80s..
I'm particularly looking for shows from early 1983....

FYI: The later syndicated version aired with the addition of Band Aid's "Do They Know it's Christmas." Speaking of cartoons, anyone remember the Simpsons episode in which Bart created the hoax of a kid ("Timmy O'Toole") falling down a well, and Krusty organized the celebrity benefit record "We're Sending Our Love Down the Well"? After Bart confessed to making up Timmy, there is an animated "America's Top 10" segment in which Casey says "And this week's new #1 is "I Do Believe We're Naked", lip-synched by Funky-See, Funky-Do. It replaces "We're Sending Our Love Down the Well, which falls all the way to Number 97!" ;D
