Without a doubt,my favorite "AT40" show was the initial countdown from 7/4/70-I liked the story Casey told about Louis Armstrong being the first American artist who managed to dislodge The Beatles from the #1 spot-Casey then played "Hello Dolly" as an "AT40 Special".

I don't have one particular favorite AT40 show, because all the ones I've heard had some pretty memorable moments. To name but a few:
Casey's outro to "Baby Face" from the 1/31/1976 show. Casey trying to sing along with Gloria Estefan during the fade-out to "Falling In Love" on one of that song'a last weeks in the survey. Anything Beatle-related. I always loved how Casey referred to them as "those fabulous Beatles" (and not undeservedly so, either!!) That show with the LDD for "Tragedy" from either late 1980 or early 1981, about how the song helped cure a girl's fear of thunder.

A couple of moments from the 1986 year end show that stuck out were when Casey raps the intro to "Walk This Way" by Run DMC and I also liked his intro for James Brown's "Living In America".

My favorite "At40" moment was ironically happened when Casey was on vacation in which my name was mentioned when I wrote a trivia question about what song spend the most weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart without making the top 40.
It happened on the 9/1/84 show and it happened between #38 and #37 and Charlie Van Dyke's aired my question and told me the answer was "Around The World In 80 Days" by Bing Crosby which spend 29 weeks on the chart but only got to #54 in 1956.
and the odd thing about it was that I totally forgot about it and I wrote the question on Magic Marker.
As for my Casey Kasem moment, it happen in August 1982 in which he played a piece of an odd version of "Staying Alive" and I was laughing myself out loud for several days.
I don't know who sang the tune but it sounded like Tiny Tim to me, maybe we will hear that show real soon.

For some reason, I just liked how the "AT40: The 70s" presentation of the June 9, 1973 show came together. Just a good mix of songs and stories.

One that stands out to me is 10/15/83, not only because of the songs (this was in one of my favorite period of music) but was also the first Premiere rebroadcast that I heard, reacquainting me with classic AT40. Also, the 12/13/80 show, with the heartfelt tribute to John Lennon that was inserted after the show was mostly finished.

I don't remember the DJ's name, but he was one of the first DJs ever to be on air - I think his show was called "The Make Believe Ballroom" - to make a long story short, he couldn't get a job as a radio DJ in his later years, and Dick Clark, along with a few other DJs, protested on the DJs behalf to get him a job - I don't think he ever did get offered a job, but it was so absurd that one of the original radio DJs could NOT even get a radio job in his later years - I think he passed away a few years later.

12/26/87 - Casey's intro to "True Faith" by New Order was amazing, with the Flintstones and Scooby Doo references. 5/18/02 - The First Vienna Vegetable Orchestra. Enough said, really.
There have been a lot of great shows, I just can't name them all.

It was Al Jarvis and he died of a brain hemorrhage. Casey told this story on at least these dates: 10/30/1976, 5/20/1978, 11/1/1980, 2/2/1985 and 1/23/1988. I may have left out some other dates but those are the ones I know of.

5/18/02 - The First Vienna Vegetable Orchestra. Enough said, really. Oh wow...I remember that story like it was yesterday! I loved how Casey ended the story by taking a bite of an apple and then half-chewed "Now, on with the countdown." CLASSIC!

I remember that show too, the Veggie orchestra. An since AT40 was not broadcast locally, that means I must of recorded that particular show. I dont know if I still have it or not though, probably not.
Fav show? Hmmm hard to say since I really havent heared ALLL of em yet. As of now, I'd say my fave AT40 show would be the Top 100 of 87. Lots of good music that appeals to me on there.
My fav show is probably from CT40, really like the premiere show on jan '89. Mainly just cuz of the music.

they are all special to me, but if i had to pick one, i would go with the '73 show where the at40 chart and the billboard chart didn't match

The funniest part of that one was when Casey was translating "Radetzky March" and burst out laughing and had to start again. From what I heard, several months earlier, as he was introing a song, he laughed, all the way until the song started. Not sure what song it was or what he was laughing about, though.

I think it might've been "It's Been Awhile" by Staind, but I'm not sure what week it was.
