From my email...
"Premiere Radio Networks wants to advise you that as of the weekend of July 4/5, 2009, Casey and Premiere will cease producing AMERICAN TOP 10 and AMERICAN TOP 20."
Anybody know the story behind this?

Here's two possibilities:a).Premiere came to the realization that "AT10" was getting expensive to produce & given the current state of the economy, that's perfectly understandable or b).Casey has finally decided to retire-If that's the case,it's truly the end of an era.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed until I hear a comment from Casey himself or someone who is in touch with him on a frequent basis. Perhaps this was a cost cutting measure by Premiere and I wouldn't exclude the possibility of him counting down the hits somewhere else. Although Casey is getting older, I haven't heard anything about him planning to retire nor anything about his health worsening.
I did read somewhere that Casey signed a contract with Premiere for ten years in late 2003, according to which he turned AT40 over to Ryan Seacrest to host-that would apparently tie him to Premiere until 2013.
I'm not denying the possibility that Casey is retiring but I'm going to wait for further information before I conclude that this is the case.

Well, with Premiere producing the classic AT40: The 70s and 80s shows, that may fulfill Casey's contract (assuming those shows continue through 2013). 39 (nearly continuous) years of counting down the hits ain't a bad run by any means.

Even though "AT10" is signing off next month, you can still find the Mediabase listings each Tuesday in the Life section of USA Today.

BrettVW mentioned that WMVX dropped AT20. I thought WNIC almost did the same thing. I turned on WNIC at 7 am, but they just played their regular flashback music. It turns out WNIC moved AT10s timeslot again. WNIC is going to finish the AT10 at a decent time slot, Sundays from 8 am to 11 am. Their website confirms it.
