Mike did a great job, as always, but there was one part of this weekends show I did not like.
While I have gotten used to the 'No Nuttin' on AT20 as well as the jingle for the extras, they added an extra 'No Nuttin' this weekend that I really didn't like.
The first segment of the third hour opened, as usual, with the Top of the Hour ID Bed. Then, the "Number 7" jingle played, followed by the number 7 song. Then, the extra jingle played followed by an extra. This is the first time that two songs have played in a row on a Casey show without a host intro or outro for either of them. Since the AT20 No Nuttin's started, Casey or Mike have always made an appearance at either the beginning or the end of every song. The Number 7 song was not introed or outroed. Mike only had one voicetrack in the whole segment, after the second song, recapping both the extra and number 7.

Hopefully the Mike Kasem additional "no nuttin" was a simple case of there being some reason (factual, accidentally deleted, etc.) that they couldn't use the voicetrack and thus did what they did...rather than it just being an intentionally planned no-nuttin into another no-nuttin.

I loved this week's LDD about a couple who wants to name their first child Casey because of all the inspiration he'd given them.

The same LDD was on "AT10",which Mike also hosted.

I liked the LDD as well, but I really thought it would have been appropriate to save it a week for Casey to return. It's rare that a letter is connected so personally to Casey. I know if I was that couple I would have been more than a little bummed that Casey himself hadn't been the one to read it.

I agree that it would have been better for Casey to have read the LDD himself, but it's possible that he or someone on the staff thought that doing so might sound a bit too self-congratulatory, and so held it for Mike. (The song requested, BTW, was Creed's "With Arms Wide Open".)
But such congratulation is of course well-deserved; Ryan Seacrest got it right at the end of this weekend's AT40 when reading the credits and saying it was created by "The legend...Casey Kasem and Don Bustany."

Mike did a great job on this weekend's show (June 13/14). He has developed his own wording and phrasing. Maybe there is a chance for him to host a countdown show on a regular basis. He would truly deserve it.
