On the Feb. 22-23, 2009 American Top 20 show, Casey makes reference to Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra. He makes a reference of him winning the Grammy Awards for Best Polka Album. He plays about a 7 second cut from Jimmy Sturr with the West Virginia Polka. This is the first time I can remember Casey playing Polka Music on his show.
The Jimmy Sturr profile is heard in the 3rd segment of hour 1 on American Top 20. This profile and Polka music clip was also featured on American Top 10 in the 1st segment in the 2nd hour.

Jimmy Sturr is a very prolific artist-I liked the story that Casey told about him.

This is the first time I can remember Casey playing Polka Music on his show. If you're talking about AT20, you're undoubtedly correct. However, within the context of all of Casey's countdown programs, it's not the first time Casey played polka music. For two weeks in April 1975, Bobby Vinton was in the Top 40 with "Beer Barrel Polka." And in the outcue of the song's final Top 40 appearance, Casey made his own attempt at capturing that 'oom-pa-pa' feeling.

In his intro to the 4/19/75 show,Casey mentioned there were two songs debuting that week that were out of the ordinary-He was referring to "Shaving Cream" & "The Beer Barrel Polka"-His comment was right on target.
