I WAS WONDERING IF THER IS ANYTHING OUT THERE FOR QUICK REFERENCE, FOR EXAMPLE, YOU HEAR A SONG ON TH RADIO, SAY CAREFREE HIGHWAY BY GORDON LIGHTFOOT, IS THERE A QUICK WAY OF FINDING OUT WHAT DATE OR DATES THAT IT WAS ON CASEY KASEM......WITHOUT CALLING CASEYS CELL...LOL.!!!!!!!ANY ANSWERS PEASE DROP ME A LINE.......THANKS....

Joel Whitburn's Hot 100 Chart Book for the 70's is exactly what you're looking for. There are also books for the 50's, 60's, 80's and 90's.

Another Book by Joel Whitburn I have several editions of is "The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits." It goes all the way back to the start of the rock n' roll era circa 1955 until today. If you're only interested in the 70's - 90's, I'm sure you can get an older volume pretty cheap. I sometimes use www.top40db.net/ to look up songs when I don't have my book. If you register (it's free) you can see the date the song entered the chart.

Joel Whitburn's "Top Pop Singles" is updated every few years-The most recent edition lists all the "Hot 100" entries between 1955-2006-Go to www.recordresearch.com for more information.

Yeah I agree with Shannon. Bill, you need to pick up the Joel Whitburn books that reprint the entire Hot 100's. Otherwise,Whitburn now offers a DVD-Rom of the 70's charts which is available via the Record Research website. Just do a google search to get to the site...
