As long as I know the first weekly survey of the new year has always been recorded at pre-Christmas time. Then, of course, USA Today published two more weekly charts over the holidays with Katy Perry's HOT N COLD topping the chart for two weeks.
For AT20 to get back on track with the chart and not be left two weeks behind they skipped over these two December weekly charts, thus you have Jason Mraz dropping from the top spot to number 3, whereas Nickelback jumps from 4 all the way up to the top this week.
And the show has 3 debuts for the same reason.
A bit pity for Katy not be heard at the top but I'm glad the countdown stays fresh.
By the way, as Mike stated Nickelback has the most #1s on AT20 so far this decade with five. Santana, Matchbox Twenty and Daughtry are tied for the second place with three chart toppers on AT20 each.

Yes, Katy's #1 weeks will not be counted for AT20, even though there was precedent for doing so. "Daughters" by John Mayer hit #1 during the break a few years back, and AT20 counted it. This year however, no dice for Katy.
