While I enjoy listening to past AT40 programs, they're extra special to me if they were recorded unedited off of the radio. I spent many Sundays recording AT40 off of radio stations in Chicago but I have only preserved and saved a few of these broadcasts over the years.
I'm curious to know if anyone else recorded and saved unedited AT40 broadcasts -- containing the program, commercials, station jingles, news, weather, etc. And, if so, what program(s) and from what radio station(s).

Pete, As you know,I have numerous shows recorded from the American Forces Radio & Television service out Germany circa the mid 70's. The Quality is not always that good on some of them because as a kid,my recording methods could sometimes be primitive for their time--a simple mic laying next to a radio! But the AFRTS shows are unique in that they were edited somewhat for the Military servicemen and their dependants. Plus,Casey also cut PSA material in place of normal commercial time, and made mentions of "This is the American Forces Radio & Television Service." Yeah,I appreciate the AFRTS shows that I have. Back in the States I have some shows recorded from the old WFNN out of Escanaba,Michigan from 1978-79 and also a show or two recorded from WUPM out of Ironwood,Michigan.

Being a part of the younger generation, I have many current AT20 and Premiere-era AT40 with Casey recorded off of the Cleveland stations.

I have some Shadoe year-enders on tape. Unfortunately, I deleted most of the commercials at one point. However, enough survived so that I caught the promos Shadoe did for the stations. The stations I recorded them off of are (all Indiana): WMEE Fort Wayne, an Elwood station, a Logansport station, and WLBC Muncie.
I had a bunch of Dees show recorded off air from WMEE, but I gave all of those away to Jeffster.

I used to, but they all got unceremoniously thrown out in October 04.

Pete, my favorites are the same as yours, recorded off the radio. As far as my own recordings, I dont have any complete shows undedited, but I do have large portions of a few shows I recorded, the AT40 show of 9/16/89, and Casey's Top 40 top 100 of the year shows of 1990 and 1991. The 89 show and the YE 1990 show are especially cool to me because niether of the stations I recorded those from exist any more. I have a few shows on CD I have traded for that have the station jingles on them but not the other local ads and stuff. Two shows that I think Larry Crowe (?) may have sent me that are Shadoe shows recorded off WMEE from 1992 and 93, those are my favorite sounding shows ever, along with the top 100 of 1989 that John Bass sent me, recorded off Z98 in Memphis.

I used to record parts of the shows when unable to listen to it... I have few of them on cassette tapes (qulity really differs)... Stations: Ö3 (Austrian radio) mid 80's w/Casey AM recording off VOA Europe late 80's w/Shadoe few Casey shows from Radio Milano International (I think I have a part of Hall&Oates as guest hosts) Have few whole shows from CT40 era, which I recorded off Blue Danube Radio (Vienna, Austria). Few Top 10 Yearenders from CT40 90's, recorded off VOA Musicmix (off satellite). I will need to dig those tapes up and see what fun stuff is there!

I have 30-40 cassettes of individual songs from the countdowns from around 1981-1991 (The 81-84 tapes are horrible quality -- a tape recorder pushed up against my parents' stereo speakers!). But one of my biggest music-related regrets is that I never managed to tape an entire show.

If I like the radio jingles of the staton, and the sound quality of the program is not too bad, I will keep the show. That's the case with CT40's Top 40 #1s of the 80s, which was taped off Z100-New York. Otherwise, for the other shows I have that were taped off-air, I'll keep hunting for a pristine copy.

I defintly prefer 'off air'. I dont like hearing that 'pop' every time the album spins, or having to adjust the volume level.. Off-air stations amplify the sound, so theres no adjusting the volume level. I don't have that many older shows off air: A complete Rick dees show from june of '95, a near complete CT40 show from fall of '95, part II of the year end survey of 1986 from Rick dees, the 86 or 86 (this one has original station comercials).

Hi Pete,
Took me a while to get back on board here...Of interest to you, somewhere in my archives I have hour 3 of the "40 Top Hits of 1973" from WPIX-FM in NYC. If I ever get around to finding it, I'll let you know...

I have a full version of the CT40 Top 100 of 1991 (Z-98) and as Jeffster said(and thanks for the compliment!!!) I have AT40 Top 100 of 1989 (Z-98). I think I also have a AT40 Top 100 of 1988 and 1987 copied from FM-100 in Memphis (but it omitted "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael due to the fact the radio station thought it was not appropriate.

When I first started recording off the air and internet in 2002, I used to keep all the commercials in tact on them all, but it would require using an additional by doing so, and I cut off doing that. Of course, all those shows were included in the ones thrown out in 2004!
