Just checked the XM schedules and found that the 1970s AT40 show is not on Wednesday night for this week and next week. Anyone know whether or not they have decided to broadcast only once per week on the 70s? They still have the 80s AT40 broadcast on Thursday night and Sunday noon.

I would listen and make sure anyway if that is the regular time you listen. Tomorrow is the much balleyhooed channel merger and they have have just forgotten to put it on the schedule.

My sources tell me that they have discontinued the Wednesday repeat. This means everyone needs to write in and request the program be reinstated at that time or, at least, repeated some other time during the week. It is too dangerous to have only one airing of the program on Saturday because any technical problems or just a busy personal weekend schedule could spell disaster for us. It will also show an interest in this program so they don't pull the plug on the whole thing!

I think "dangerous" and disaster" are a little strong.

Cancelling or doing anything suggesting cancelation of AT40 by XM management would be stupid at the time the channels are merging because there are many Sirius subscribers who are looking forward to hearing the show as well and they would have to face the threat of loosing XM AND Sirius subscribers at a time when their financial situation is close to the bottom and they could ill afford to loose any subscribers.
Having said that, Sirius XM management has assured those of us who have expressed our worries that AT40 may be taken off that the show is "staying". Hopefully, they will bring back the Wednesday night broadcast after the process of channel merging is complete or better yet, their failure to put AT40 on the schedule was an oversight and the show does appear tomorrow night as it has for the past two years.

I think "dangerous" and disaster" are a little strong. Not in a message board that relies on listeners having access to a program.

I can see XM putting the 70's shows on their Sunday lineup-After all, that's when the vast majority of affiliate stations have aired the show, whether it was hosted by Casey Kasem or his successor Ryan Seacrest-Saturday is a busy day for most folks-We all have to run errands-I think XM made a smart decision here.

According to the program guide on XM, the 80s countdowns will still be on sundays and thursdays. That may also change, but at least as of now 80s is still playing AT40 twice a week. I hope 70s will do the same.

I was also told by John Clay that they were discontinuing the Wednesday repeats. I emailed the 80s channel and, of course, haven't gotten a response, probably since there may not be anybody in charge right now! Sidenote-does anyone record the AT40 shows? I do, but, as you can imagine, am busy and can't always be around if they cut the 70s show to Saturdays only! pls let me know-thanks am willing to trade!

So now technically you have Casey vs Rick Dees on Sunday, and for 20 minutes or so you could concievably have Casey Kasem vs Casey Kasem vs Rick Dees. As they will be on the 70's, 80's and 90's channels simultaneously on the weeks AT40 from the 70s airs a show from late 78 or 1979.
