I got a message from my Dad this morning saying he heard a promo on Sirius 7 (the 70s station) that Classic AT40 with Casey from the 70s debuts on Sirius 7 next Sunday morning. Anyone know more?

XM and Sirius are merging their music channels and, as a result, the AT40 shows that have been broadcasting on XM can be heard on Sirius beginning this week. Kind of strange that the 70s on 7 will be moving AT40 from Saturday to Sunday however and I'd double check the XM or Sirius websites or contact the DJ who made the announcement to be sure. Sunday is the day that 80s on 8 has been broadcasting AT40. The merger takes place this week, most likely on Nov 12 according to discussions elsewhere on the Internet and from the "USA Today" issue last week that advertises the new lineup.
Unfortunately, one of the PDs, John Clay of the 70s on 7, who was one of the strongest supporters of bringing AT40 to XM two years ago, will no longer be on 70s on 7. He was laid off as part of the staff reductions announced in October. His last day on the air was Friday. From everything I've heard, Rick Stacy of 80s on 8 will remain as PD for that channel.
BTW: If Jay Thomas, who is currently a DJ on Sirius 7 on weekend mornings, remains at that time on the merged station, things could be rather interesting since he was a guest host for Shadoe Stevens (whose voice has been heard on Sirius 7 as an announcer) on AT40 in 1992. Assuming that AT40 broadcasts the same time as it did on XM, Thomas would be the DJ who would precede AT40 and would mention that the show comes on after his shift ends. Martha Quinn, a Sirius 8 DJ, was an AT40 guest host in 1993 and it would be interesting if she is scheduled just before AT40 comes on the 80s.

Does this mean that the XM and Sirius decades channels will be merged and the AT40 schedule will change?

Yes, the Sirius and XM Decades channels will merge and, from everything I've heard, each decade will have its own channel. According to the schedules on xmradio.com, AT40 will continue to broadcast at the same time it already does but Sirius and XM are known for changing things without telling anyone so I'd keep checking. Nov 12 is supposed to be the day that the merged channels appear on the air so probably more will be known after that time.

Hope I didn't mislead anyone into thinking that AT40 was going to Sirius and leave XM. Sirius and XM will have the same decades channels and anyone who is currently subscribing to XM OR Sirius will be able to hear AT40. Direct TV also receives XM 70s on 7 and 80s on 8 and anyone who has Direct can hear AT40. I think Sirius used to be broadcast on the Dish network but I'm not sure if it still is (if you have Dish, check with them before assuming that you will be able to hear AT40) In short, if you have either satellite radio or satellite tv or both, chances are good that you can hear the satellite version of AT40.

I have DISH Network and at last check they do have SIRIUS channels listed. Please let me know of the times that AT40 will be airing on the '70s and '80s channels (same times as the ones on XM?).

According to the schedule on xmradio.com, AT40 will be broadcasting at the same times as they always do. There's even an ad for AT40 on the home page of the xmradio.com site (I hadn't seen it there for at least two months) and it says that AT40 will broadcast at the following times:
70s on 7: Saturday at 12noon Eastern, 11am Central, 10am Mountain, 9am Pacific, etc and Wed at 10pm Eastern, 9pm Central, 8pm Mountain, 7pm Pacific, etc.
80s on 8: Sunday at 12noon Eastern, 11am Central, 10am Mountain, 9am Pacific, etc. and Thurs at 10pm Eastern, 9pm Central, 8pm Mountain, 7pm Pacific, etc.
Of course, to be on the safe side, I would check back on XM (xmradio.com) or Sirius (sirius.com) to be sure as they may change those times with little advance notice. According to everything I've seen, the channels will merge on Nov 12. You may also want to email 70s on 7 at seventies@xmradio.com or 80s on 8 at eighties@xmradio.com
