Matt Millen was finally fired from the Detroit Lions today by owner William Clay Ford, Sr. With a 31 win and 84 loss record since 2001, this was the worst NFL record during that time period.
We all know in the Detroit area, the Detroit Lions will always be losers in the NFL. I'm kind of curious, what outside of Detroit opinions.

It was long, long, long, long overdue.

General opinion by NFL fans is that he should not have been hired in the first place. On the other hand, it is not as though the Lions have a huge fanbase outside of their region. So to be honest, most people could probablly care less.

It appears the Detroit Lions will end up 0 and 16. I hope they end up 0 and 16! I'm from the Detroit area. I root for the Chicago Bears. I'm sure you heard the clueless decisions William Clay Ford Sr. has made over the years. Even today, he announced general manager Martin Mayhew and chief operating officer Tom Lewand to remain in the organization for next season. The only thing I can say, DA BEARS!!!!

I will post here something I posted yesterday on another message board I post on, I did so sometime mid 3rd quarter I believe:
Attention Detr0it Li0ns,
Now that you have pretty much guaranteed yourself the first ever 0-15 start, you have an obligation to NFL fans from coast to coast. You cannot let us down next week. Many of us have invested much of our time talking about you, watching you, making fun of you, and of course laughing at you. Next week is your chance to make history. Look back in the past, no one remembers most of the 1-15 teams. While that level of ineptitude is truly special, those teams are still numerous. 0-16 is in a class all by itself. Every fan will forever remember this truly unique team, and it will bring laughter and joy to us all...especially in those hard times when our own teams suck. But this can only happen, you can only become immortal by taking care of business next weekend. In a time of economic recession, war, and high prices, we need something constant, steady, and unshakable. That steady hand in times of peril is you! Please do not let us down. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Cool Kwanzaa, Bodacious Boxing Day, Rad Ramadan, and if I left anyone out I apologize.
Sincerely Yours, Paul

I want 0-16 to happen too. I didn't think it was possible (especially as a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan) but one more loss away from ultimate futility!
I also hope the Lions lose their first 10 games next season which would give them 27 straight losses (dating back to the final game of last season) then it would totally wipe the 1976-'77 Bucs off the record books.

If the Lions break that record, that would be truly pathetic considering that Tampa Bay can use them being an expansion team as an excuse.
