I remember having heard Casey Casem playing the number 1 songs from Billboard on each show starting from #200 to #1 , each week during the 80's shows ( hope i'm not wrong ) .
It could be an interesting idea to collect all these songs to create a special show ( in several parts ) ?

Seth:
Are you talking about the "AT40 Archive" feature in which Casey played the #1 songs of the 1970s and then the #1 songs of the 1960s, both in chronological order? This was a regular feature of the weekly countdowns from Oct 7, 1978 to Nov 28, 1981 and 3 each week were played except on the Jun 1980 show when the last #1 of the 1970s (Escape-Rupert Holmes)was played and the Nov 28, 1981 show when the last #1 of the 1960s (Someday We'll Be Together-Diana Ross and Supremes) was played.
The songs were not played by rank, however, but in the order in which they peaked, beginning with the first week of the decade and ending with the final week of the decade. However, should Casey do such a countdown as you are suggesting, that would really be a collectors item.
Casey did do a special in the 1970s of the Top 40 of the Rock Era(1955-72), the top 40 of the past 5 years (1968-73) and the Top 40 of the Beatles Era (1964-70-all artists charting at the time were eligable not just the Beatles). And you've probably heard AT40s Top 50 of the 1970s which was broadcast at least twice by XM. If you're interested in the 1980s, Casey counted down the top songs of that decade both on American Top 40 (July 4, 1987) and Casey's Top 40 (at various times from 1989 to 1990). I don't remember Casey ever counting down the Top 40 of the 1960s, however.
