This Wednesday (8/6) marks the twentieth anniversary of Casey's final "AT40" countdown for ABC-Watermark-It'll be interesting to see if Premiere will feature this countdown on next weekend's installment of "AT40-The 80's".

It would be a good idea, even if it is a rerun. I did not get to hear the whole thing, btw.

^They did it the same weekend last year as they're doing it this year (namely, the second weekend in August).
I found that strange as, during the Flashback series, they ran the show a week early (last weekend in July) instead of a week later.
Anyway, it'll be good to hear the show again.

I just finished listening to the final Casey AT40 show from 8/6/88 on a radio station that streams on the net. As Casey was closing the show, he did a plug for America's Top 10. I listened to this same show before on XM Radio and do not remember Casey closing the show with a promo for America's Top 10. Casey only said "Until next time, keep your feet on the ground...."
Do you think Premiere did this once again to disguise the fact that Casey actually left the show?

In previous rebroadcast show of 6/18/88, Casey also mentioned his TV show, so it is not new.
I listened to the 8/6/88 show earlier today, and it sounded just like every other AT40 show. I'm kind of disappointed that Casey didn't mention his departure. He could have thanked the listeners for tuning in over the years, or mentioned his successor. Maybe the producers of the show didn't think anybody would notice if he left...
To me Casey Kasem will always be synomymous with American Top 40. Listening to him over the years made him feel like a personal friend of mine, even though I have never met him or talked to him. He is a radio icon that can never be replaced. The show never sounds right without him whenever someone else is the guest host.
